Every year about 16,000 people go to the emergency room because of grilling accidents, including severe burns from gas grills. Safety experts say propane grills can quickly turn into dangerous fireballs if they’re used improperly and you don’t follow the important safety instructions. Fire Marshal Rob Dobuzinsky of the Branford, Connecticut Fire Department told Inside Edition’s Investigative Unit it's important for people to be aware of basic grilling safety. #InsideEdition

My sister got caught on fire like legit went into flames from exactly this and was in medical coma for 8 months.
She suffered 2nd degree burns but mostly 3rd degree burns where you could see her bone on some parts. Then her body was shutting down, all her organs were failing like her lungs, kidneys.

If grilling with gas is this risky, just forget it and grill with wood or charcoal. It's less likely to go KABOOM, the smoke gives a little extra flavor, and there's nothing that can leak. The only thing you need to worry about is the occasional "rogue flame" that jumps up and slightly burns the food.
