Показать описание
Hosted by our Head of Research, Caoimhe Bennett, this Research Roundtable explored epilepsy treatments past, present and future. The session featured presentations and discussion with supporters and Epilepsy Research UK-funded researchers.
Our fantastic guest speakers included:
• Nicole, who shared a moving and engaging account of her family’s lived experience of epilepsy and what finding the right treatment would mean to them
• Professor John Paul Leach, University of Glasgow, who discussed the history of antiseizure medication development – through both accident and design
• Professor Richard Baines, University of Manchester, who discussed his current Epilepsy Research UK-funded work and the present-day drug discovery pathway, from lab bench to bedside
• Dr Rob Wykes, University College London and University of Manchester, who discussed his research using a material commonly used in the electronics industry, and how this may lead to exciting future treatments for epilepsy
