In the United States, firefighters are hoping a change of weather could help them battle around 100 blazes across several western states. Days of dry and windy conditions have been feeding the flames in Oregon, Washington and California. The Blazes have killed at least 30 people and officials in Oregon are warning residents of the possibility of mass fatalities.

One thing I've learned after reading these comments, people can be really cruel.

Always amazed at how calm and collected those guys on the front lines appear to be. Fire is terrifying.

"False claims online of arson". They aren't false. Look it up, a man was arrested yesterday for calling in his own arson.

Now we can relate with the people of Syria, Palestine and Iraq, how they have been going through ... their homes are being destroyed by wars ..

No Forrest management. Controlled logging and prescribed burns would lessen the problem dramatically.

We had a wildfire just on the edge of town (Montana, US), about 7000 acres/2832 hectares, small compared to the coast but it looked huge enough being so close to home. We were lucky enough to get a day and night of rain and snow to help us out. We had 97F/36C high temperature one day and a high of 40F/4C the next day with snow at the beginning of September, not our normal weather.
