Finally, a Maya/Unity tutorial that is concise, clear, to the point and without theatrics/annoying voices/stupid puns.
Thank you so much, excellent video.

About importing IK:
"If you are using IK to animate characters you have to select the imported .mb file in Project View and choose Bake IK & Simulation in the Import Settings dialog in the Inspector."

Hey, I love using Maya, I just find it better to use. But it comes down to personal preference, big arguments can be stemmed from the 3ds Max vs Maya debate haha.

But I used 3DS Max throughout Uni because it was a requirement. I then chose to teach myself Maya because Max has problems, and Maya's tools in my opinion are so much better and easier to use, and save lots of time.

For me, Maya is a big time saver, and has less problems than Max.

Great question. The answer is that Unity does not support Maya's IK Handles and constraints! I can't post links but google "Unity Maya support" and click the top link. Yes, Unity imports IK and bone based animations, but not the controls and handles themselves.

I also found out some new things. Animations needs to be baked to skeleton through edit>key>bake.
Still its complicated.

You want me to explain how to export weapons from  maya, separate from the character set? To be changeable in the game!

@UnityChat, Hi, I'm fairly new to Game Design and Development.

But please enlighten me on some of the stuff I saw in your Animation video.

So basically, all Moving Object and Mesh Animations are produced in the Mesh Modelling Software - BEFORE Importing to the Dev Kit/Game Engine, i.e. Not possible to Create Animations in Unity - just Edit them?

Also, what exactly does 'Bake Animation' do?

And, from what I just saw, you used the Inspector's fields for the Animation file, to Edit and PLAY it, right?

I'd really like to know, as I'm interested in Animation, and ... Are Full Motion Video (FMVs) created in the same way?

What if I have constrains, objects that are parents of ik handles etc etc..
How procedure whould look like? Because now when I select skeleton and meshes, or everything (ik handles skeleton, constrains etc..) it exports but there is no animation, and model (human) rests t odefault "broken" position of "T".
I nsimple language I want t obake all controllers on my meshes so I could export it.

If i wanted to make an animation of a character walking down a street, getting on a motorbike and driving off, could I do it using only Maya and/or Unity3D? I would then need to export it to upload the animation to YouTube somehow...

Cause i have animated something, exported it there and when i click to play game, the object dissapears... And when i disable the animation tag it appears there but with no animation obviously. Material will be exported as a grey Lambert material"
when the exported "scene" is imported into Unity, there is no texture.
Please help anyone

Very very outdated. Unity now has mecanim system and uses bone animation instead.
