I appreciate this video. I'm currently getting my masters, so I know about how scholarship works. But most people don't. Academia is a small portion of the population, and I think knowing more about how you have come to your conclusion is really helpful.

In Western society, there is so much pressure to have something be "all-correct" and theorized. I think this perspective is rooted in our science and materialism culture, which if your in America especially, you are raised in this classical trains of thought. Yet, a Pagan/Animistic perspective I think should be all encompassing--holding space for all our connections and relations--being multi-layered and complex. Living in the modern world, both of these perspectives have use, with the classical being over done and holistic being forgotten. I think having both the academic and spiritual point of view in equal footing, while integrating multiple perspectives from both areas will help to create what the celebration means today in due time. This would be a path where, both academics and practitioners are at the same table learning and helping each other, to create something modern while being connected to the ancients. This celebration sounds like an amazing idea, being super relevant for the chaotic era we are in, so it may just take time, balance, and some creativity.

I guess the bit I'm struggling with is the season. Solstice/Moon = awesome. I get it. But 3 king's day is associated with mid winter. The solstice/moon and mid winter don't match in 2023 where I live (Southern Hemisphere). But is it something that isn't important to the Year of Aun if the focus ends up being in healing? Is the dating more academic vs actual practice? Is that how the Southern Hemisphere gets included for 2023? It's not a huge stretch for us to start our new cycles in summer (hello calendar year!). Or do we change the year of Aun to suit the season for the south. I'm not even sure who I talk to about this in Australia. So I'm finding it hard to get my head around the unknown context. But it's got me thinking!
