While we may love this Thin Lizzy song, “Don’t Believe A Word,” and the way it shows how two Les Paul guitars can sound when played in harmony, we’d never use this kind of reverse psychology—no matter what the song says! More About Thin Lizzy!!
Thin Lizzy are an Irish hard rock band formed in Dublin in 1969. Their music reflects a wide range of influences, including blues, soul music, psychedelic rock and traditional Irish folk music, but is generally classified as hard rock or sometimes heavy metal. Two of the founding members, drummer Brian Downey and bass guitarist, lead vocalist and principal songwriter Phil Lynott, met while still in school. Lynott led the group throughout their recording career of twelve studio albums, writing most of the material. The singles "Whiskey in the Jar" (a traditional Irish ballad), "The Boys Are Back in Town" and "Waiting for an Alibi" were international hits.

Lyrics:
Don't believe me if I tell you
Not a word of this is true
Don't believe me if I tell you
Especially if I tell you
I'm in love with you
Don't believe me if I tell you
That I wrote this song for you
There just might be
Some other silly pretty girl
I'm singing to
Don't believe a word
For words are so easily spoken
And your heart is just like that promise
Made to be broken
Don't believe a word
'Cause words can tell lies
And lies are no company
When there's tears in your eyes
Don't believe me if I tell you
Not a word of this is true
Don't believe me if I tell you
Especially if I tell you
That I'm in love with you
Don't believe a word
No, don't believe a word
Don't believe me, don't believe me
Not a single word

I love Laurels attitude. Also, the guys on guitar are killing it. The solo really captures the vibe of the original!

I keep coming back to this video and the other Lizzy one, Waiting for an Alibi, whenever I have a few drinks in me... sublime. I reckon Laurel could belt out The Boys are Back in Town?
