The giant Ymir could very much represent a super giant blue or red star, the killing thereof could represent a supernova from which everything was created. The cow that appears called unbdumbla could be the symbolic meaning for the creation of the milky way followed by the sun, moon and planets, all things including elements found on the periodic table were given animated personalities and associated with spiritual beings
