I love how he never fails to emphasize the importance of technique over speed + power

I chose to watch his ads just because this content is so good.

I started boxing 6 weeks ago, 41 and I put on 30lbs. I’m the slowest, oldest guy at the gym but now my boys, 9 & 6, are going too so it’s become a three time a week family event.

But these videos have helped immensely.

Cheers Tony!!!!

Back in high school, the thing that worked for me was a series of 5-6 jabs to the face and then an uppercut or cross to the gut. This simple combo saved my ass through throughout the 4 years. The best thing is when the bully types know that you can fight back they will usually leave you alone.

Been following you recently.
Certainly a big help for people that want to pick up boxing.
I used to box, used to love it. My trainer and coach said I had so much talent. Stepped into the ring to quick imo. Only 4 months after I started boxing. I froze up. Forgot everything. I've always been a nervous guy and all that crowd. I couldn't handle it..
Seeing your videos I'm thinking about trying again..
Stopped going to the boxing gym but kept training on my own.
Keep posting man!

#4 is something I’ve become very aware of when I’m doing bag work since I started watching your videos. Just super clean and clear tips. Thank you Tony

Since I've started watching your videos I fell in love with boxing, coming from a karate backgound. Last week I went to my local gym knowing I'm going to spar a couple of guys that has been boxing for a couple of years. To my shock I did really well against them, they actually asked me whether I was taking professional classes😅 I felt great saying no I was only watching your videos!🙂

Technique is everything. If your main focus is technique, not only will you become much better, but it also is an indicator that you are actually passionate about the art and care about being “the real deal”. Another less emphasized part of fighting is tactic. Knowing WHEN to throw technique and WHY you’re throwing it.

Had a big smile on my face watching this as pretty much everything you've just said my coach has pulled me up on last two sessions. I'm a textbook too fast and too hard too soon. Must get my technique down first. 🙂 💪

Great tips. I will use these thanks. Rocky Marciano threw straight-right followed by a left-hook. He crouched very low to throw the straight-right. He created a massive hip drive (similar to world class track and field throwers) and usually knocked his opponent out. He was small for a heavyweight but this unusual crouching technique worked for him. I understand Tony advising against this generally. Also, I cringe when boxers drop their guard. I remember when Oliver Mcall (?) dropped Lenox Lewis after dropping his guard.

Good to know my own boxing trainer knows what he's talking about. He emphasizes virtually all of the tips you covered -- breathing technique, hand position, form, etc. -- every session. I've be doing this for just over 4 months so far, and steadily improving. Need to work on getting more power in my left jab -- particularly double jabs. Any tips you have would be appreciated. For anyone who's been thinking about getting into boxing, it's fantastic exercise, and you're learning a skill while doing it.

This material is good stuff; anybody who wants to hit, but not get hit in a fight will get better if they incorporate these tips into their technique. Great stuff, Tony.
