Transcript:
Why is Finland not blamed for partnering with Germans in WW2.
First let's take a look at some history. Finland gained its independence from the Russian Empire in 1917 and these were its borders. However at the start of WW2 the USSR decided to invade Finland in order to retake the entire nation.
This is the reason why Finland sought German assistance to defeat the Soviets.
You see Germany is blamed because it was attacking everyone, while Finland was simply fighting the invaders.

Inaccuracies:
1.) The shown flag of the russian empire was used used between 1853 and 1883.
2.) When Germany attacked the USSR the winter war already ended. Germany promised Finnland not only the lost territory If they attack, they would also gain territory in Karelia.
3.) During the Winter War no german soldiers participated - neither as "volunteers". Im contrary to swedish volunteers.

As a Finn I can confirm this is abaolutely untrue. Finland made peace with Soviet Union after the Soviet invasion. Finland allied with Germany later on to attack Soviet Union.

The justifications and reasons Finland isn't blamed are far more complicated and subjective than that.

Finland never signed the Tripartite Pact and did not enter into an official alliance with Nazi Germany. However, it allowed German forces to transit and operate on Finnish territory, and Finnish forces fought alongside the Germans.

That was a bit too quickly explained.
When the USSR invaded Finland, Germany had a non-aggression pact with the USSR, and had accepted that that Finland was in the Soviet sphere of interest (= ok to invade). The invasion did not work out the way Stalin hoped, and Finland remained independent, but lost territory. Finland and the USSR signed a peace treaty in March 1940. When Germany started planning for Operation Barbarossa, Finland was approached (after the summer of 1940). At this time the Allies did not exist yet. France was lost, the US was still neutral and the USSR...well, they still had a non-aggression pact with Hitler, and had completely taken over the Baltic states + half of Poland. Finland started to prepare for the participation in the invasion of the USSR, to get back the lost territory, but tried desperately to not cut ties with the US and the UK. Finland did join the Anti-Komintern pact in 1941, which was pointed against the USSR, but unlike Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, the Finnish leadership never signed the Tripartite Pact, which was pointed towards the US. The UK eventually declared war on Finland, to appease the new ally, the USSR, but the US never declared war on Finland. They only severed diplomatic ties, which happened in June 1944. Very late in other words.

Actually they lost the winter war and then they wanted German assistance to start the continuation War which they started after the Germans began their invasion of the Soviet Union

USSR started a unprovoked war with Finland for 1 port, also to show off that they could pull off a blitzkrieg like Germany did to the Polish. Finland did not receive any troops from Germany. However they did push their advantage and joined the Germans in the fight against the USSR during WWII once Germany decided to attack them.
It’s weird morally because there’s a very good chance Finish forces never heard or saw any death camps so fighting with the Nazis were not for the same reasons, rather a enemy of my enemy is my friend type situation.

Actually, the USSR and Germany were close allies during the Winter War, the Molotov-Ribbentropp pact is the key to understand everything.

Finland got material aid from Germany during the Continuation War (the USSR vs Finland II) and Finland gave soldiers to the Waffen SS.

Better question would have been why Soviet Union is not blamed for partnering with the Germans in WW2?

I hate cashout channels like this that doesn’t actually care about history/ geography. Finland literally invaded the Soviet Union in the continuation war, I bet the creator of the video needs to google what it is. This video and channel needs to go

Anyone who says Soviet Union did NOT plan to annex Finland is an ignorant fool. Has everyone forgot what was the deal between Germany and Soviet Union? Germany Gets Lithuania, Soviets Finland, Estonia, Latvia and both split Poland.

Please Research about "Red Army Route Planner to Finland" printed in Moscow 1939 which was captured from Russian troops during the 'Battle of Suomusalmi'.

Besides the extremely detailed maps, the route planner has such nuggets as "prohibition to cross Swedish border" and "instructions how to greet Swedish border guards with respect"

Also, The formation of "Terijoke puppet government of Finland" woul've been pretty pointless for anything but total de facto annexation of Finland.

The Baltic states also go their indentical "new and improved" Soviet appointed governments, and we know how that went.

Actually, after battle of Kursk and insurance of defeat of the Nazis, Finland forced all Germans stationed in Finland to leave at a certain time or be fired upon, Germany and Finland by the end were at war, but the Finns did agree with the Soviets that they wouldn't be forced into the WTC
