Yes jules was assigned male at birth but her gender identity is different regardless of what genetilia she has. The reason why nate is attracted to jules is because she represents strength in being herself regardless of what people think of her and that's what nate wants.

I loved your analysis but the part where you say “Jules is actually a guy.” Isn’t very respectful both the character and the actress are trans women while I understand what you’re referring to the correct phrasing would be “ Jules is biologically male.”

Jules is not "in fact a male" or "actually a guy", you could have said that she was trans or assigned male at birth wich would have had the same point. And Nate started talking to her to "protect his dad" wich is dumb because out of all his encounters, why her? He already had sexual attraction to Jules and she was one of the only people to scare him like a little boy and ruin his fasade like at Mckay's party, also her being hyper femenine and being able to do that, Jules is what Nate secretly wants to be, she is openly trans and expresses herself freely without caring about others. He then accidentally falls in love with Jules because she is the only person he has ever been honest with, so when she regets him and humiliates him, he gets really offended because she is supposed to be the thing he is embarrassed of, and ruins her life because of it, just like he is seen ruining Tyler's and Maddy's (scared of Lexi and Ethan rn). But even after that he still has feeling for Jules and I hope they dive into that in season 3

okay my only critic is you calling Jules a male, Jules is in fact well at least in season 1 a trans woman, and you calling her a male is just not it and whether you like it or not it makes you sound kinda transphobic. Please refrain from making that mistake again

Jules is a trans girl, and saying that she's "actually a guy" reinforces dangerous stereotypes about trans women.
Also kind of creeps me out how strongly and uncritically you're touting Freudian ideology.

Yo please do NOT call Jules a male. That's just very not-right. You can call her biologically male, but its an important <<crucial>> distinction. Please respect that.

Great analysis, thank you 🙏 Nate is a victim of his fathers double/fake life, he's a perfect example of how toxic masculinity, pressure from your family(his dad giving him "life lessons" after his encounters...pls ) and early exposure to heavy pornography can affect to the mind of a little boy. But ofc he's still responsible for his own actions...
To me Nate and Jules are quintessentially two sides of the same coin, they are written in a parallel with their issues or struggles...after season 2 i'm convinced that this is just the beggining, i view this as the defining relationship of the series.

Not trying to condone transphobia, but I think the creator's intent is getting a little lost on the people taking offense to the choice of words. This is a psychological profile, and stating that "Jules, who is in fact, a male" is done so because that's what NATE thinks. That's not really transphobic anyways, because she is biologically male, but I think the creator is just stating Nate's thought process to make a point. I feel like that was kind of implied since the whole video is about how NATE sees the world, and the creator is just providing commentary on it. Their other psychological profiles are done on characters from books written in the first person, so every example used to backup the analysis is taken from text that is written in that character's point of view, making it obvious, and this video is done in a similar format. The correct pronouns are used throughout the entire video, and Jules is only referred to anything other than in the feminine is when speaking in terms of biology or Nate's point of view. For example: "SHE is actually a guy" is the creator referring to Jules by the correct pronoun, and then saying what's going on in Nate's head to justify the reasoning behind a point they're making.

Great analysis but I think your deliverly alienating the viewer to take you seriously by referring Jules as a "biological male" - was "trans woman" is too hard to say?

"Jules, who is in fact a male" what?

Yes another good point to everyone once again that Cassie is nothing more than a placeholder for Jules, once again show that Nate and Jules do belong together sorry Cassie 😏.

Trans women are women. Jules is a trans woman, as well as her actress is a trans woman. Saying that Jules is "in fact a male" is disrespectful and transphobic. I hope you misspoke or misworded it. Assigned male at birth doesn't meant that someone is "in fact male", this is what transition is for.

Jules is NOT male. Only her lower region is. Please never make this mistake again.

The real question WHY IS JULES SCREWING GROWN MARRIED as a Kid?

Your analysis of where Nate is coming from seems like perfection. The clarity was so wonderful. It seems like from Nate's own side that Jules is partially a biological male, and that that is what you are addressing obviously in looking at Nate's psychological profile. Jules character is trans, hence she is in transition. For some in the comments section to be criticizing your perspective here, by saying that "Jules is trans", shows a lack of a nuanced understanding.
