Documenting Systems - Huge Time Saving Tip - Don Crowther

Want to be significantly more productive? Here’s a system for documenting systems! And it’s a huge time saving tip because it makes it so you only have to figure out how to do something one time.

After that, when you face a problem, all you have to do is search a google doc, and there you’ll find a step-by-step description of the problem and how to solve it.

It requires two tools: something you can shoot a screencapture video with (Loom, Camtasia, Screenflow,) and a Google doc.

Every time you have a problem, once you figure it out, just open up your video screencapture tool, turn it on, explain the problem, show how you solved it. That's the benefit of documenting systems.

Then open up your systems Google Doc, write a few lines describing the problem and how you solved it, and embed the video.

That way, whenever you have a problem in the future, the first place to turn is to open up that google doc to see if you have already documented a system to solve it in the past. If you have, just watch that video, and bam - problem solved!

If you haven’t, then when you do solve that problem, document it with a screencapture video, and add it to your doc. Then you’ll never have to figure out how to solve it again!

Just follow this simple system, and it will save you hundreds of hours a year, make you way more productive, and make it easier to outsource huge parts of your business.
