I mean, that cop laughing....it's not every day you see a mummy in full glitter makeup and decorated with christmas lights. When I first heard about this story I didnt think they decorated her like a tree but here we are.

Also...mother? She couldn't even be bothered to take care of her biological children.

The thing about the cult is that the leader wanted to go to a hospital for treatment, but her followers refused to take her. She had convinced them to distrust medicine a little too well.

Another thing about Amy that isn’t mentioned is that she was an intense alcoholic and opioid abuser and drank profusely every day and on videos she would send to her followers. She is slurring drunk in all of her messages and almost always on some sort of medication

The Pla thing reminds me of something I heard while in Thailand once - apparently there is a habit of having p*rnstars or anyone in the s/x industry say they 'died', so they can restart a new life someplace else without people trying to find them afterwards. Pla is a nickname, as almost all people in Thailand don't use their actual given legal names but nicknames given to them by their families (like Film, Love, Milk, Prom, Pond, Ohm, Ploy, Bow etc.), so if she decided she wanted the movie to mark a sort of end or she wanted to make sure no tourists came looking for her specifically, it would make sense for her to ask him to fake her death. Even fact checkers would honor this if it was done for her security.

The last entry in this series (Vol.4) got struck, which severely stunted its growth (which sucks because I thought it was one of my best episodes!) Just thought I'd clarify that, and why I, and many others, are being careful with it

As an ex member of a cult called "The Fellowship of Imzaia" (branches in The Netherlands, UK, US...) I can positively assure you that people in search of fulfillment in life can be easily persuaded to join any kind of cult or gathering... I left after 1, 5 years because things got way out of hand... (cleansings, ritual rebirths, cancer cures)
I am quite temperamental, and because I acted out so aggressively I got to keep my money, passport, and other personal belongings. They were confiscated as soon as you joined the group.
After I fled the country, I was stalked for over three years. Police were informed, but they had nothing substantial

Ok I grew up in Hawaii and burst out laughing when you said the cult leader Mama G said she was Pele reincarnated. One thing you need to know about Hawaiians is, they are very proud of their culture and heritage and extremely protective of their history and mythology. You do not mess with that. I'm surprised they only got rocks thrown at their cars.

About Pla's "death" I think the guy that did the documentary said that in a more metaphorical way.. like Pla's leaving the person she used to be and the life she had behind. Which could explain the suppoused "promise" of not disclosing anything about her so she won't get bothered in her new life!

Concerning the Fate of Pla it’s not uncommon for p*rnstars for example to “kill off” or mark their stage names as deceased rather than the actual person being deceased and just going back to their birth names, changing names, and former lifestyles. I hope that’s what happened in this case!

the first case is so saddening, the amount of untreated mental illness, not only from her followers but from amy herself is so sad. I hope her victims/followers can find a way to cope in a healthy manner and get the treatment they need

As someone who moved to Colorado in 2019 and has hears about a few of the cults up here in the mountains, how I never heard about love has won is astounding to me considering it sounds like they were active for at least a year while I was here. That stuff never ceases to amaze me. Also for all the people asking who in their right mind would believe she was a billion year old creature. Come to CO for a couple weeks, you’ll get it lmao

WOW I remember hearing about love has won from the headlines they made regarding their weird colonization of Hawaii and the self mummification situation, but that bodycam footage is something else… it’s the type of stuff that makes me want to write more stories. Absolutely wild seeing the interior of their house.
