My take:
- Korg says: Listen how hyped and Full spectrum I am, I sound amazing in your headphones, who needs extra musicians anyway.
- Yamaha says: I know a band has multiple instruments, and I’m the most important.
- Roland says: I’ll let the mixing engineer decide my place in the mix.

It all comes down to workflow, and what workflow fits best for you. You can import samples and work them with ALL these flagship synthesizer workstations. The examples you hear in this video is what they have to offer out of stock, meaning - the sounds that came with the keyboards. They're all top-of-the-line synths, and if you find one that fits your style of playing and working, then that's the one you should use. They all have enough punch to deliver basically any sound experience you want, it all comes down to the sample sets you use, the synthesizer variations and filters you add on top of that, you can twist and mangle every sound to your liking on ALL these keyboards. (I have the Montage btw, but I honestly like the workflow and menues of the Roland Fantom much better, I just got the Montage because I got it for a crazy bargain). Bottom line is - you'll be happy if you can afford any of these.

All 3 sounding different, but all top knotch.. in general you want all 3 brands in your setup, as they have different features and strengths.. thats why i have a Montage, a kronos and the Roland Jupiter X and integra 7

Roland Fantom wins the race. I use both the others but never expected Fantom will sound this great. Thank you for the review.

Fascinating. 25 years on and these three brands still have the same audio characteristics as they always have.

I absolutely love your demos, they're the first I watch. You manage to get some amazing sounds with your patches which I will be buying in bulk soon. As an owner of a fantom 7, modx and nautilus, I was super thrilled to see this video announced. Keep up the good work!

I had the Montage 8then the Kronos 2 88 and now the Fantom 8. I have decided that the Fantom 8 works best for me as it has an easier workflow and UI in my opinion. I can say that the Montage has the edge with the acoustic and FM sounds. The Kronos with its 9 separate synth engines definitely has the capability of doing anything covered. Fantom has a certain warmth about it and love the keybed feel. Each one of these is an amazing instrument in its own right. All comes down to personal taste and workflow preference.

Fantom top for sure. Montage always sounds hyper-real and sometimes but not always in a good way. Korg getting long in the tooth but has a mellower and I think a useful sound in the palette. They all have some irreplaceable sounds that do not overlap

Keyboard player here for nearly 40 years. I don't know what it is about Korg but I have never liked anything from them. I was really impressed with the Roland. You really need to hear these on high end converters to hear the difference but it sounds like the Roland is using superior converters and analog path to montage. Everything sounds clearer and more well defined on the Roland where the Montage sounds a little murky by comparison. That is coming from a Montage owner.

They all sound great. I use a Montage, Hydrasynth and a Deepmind 12 for all my albums. I feel like they make one giant supersynth when used together.

Montage is best. Roland second. Korg third. But all dreams for me.

i feel the Yamaha have sound very deep and so MUCH details, fantom beautifull sound (close of the Montage) and korg not same level but very nice ; so for me : 1*/ Montage 2*/ Fantom 3*/Nautilus but they don't have same price Montage (4 500€) & Fantom (4 200€) close to the double of Nautilus price (2 449€), so Price/Quality : Nautilus i think is really not bad ! ! ! merci pour cette vidéo :-)

Wow, I initially thought the Nautilus was great after binging on other demo's, but it actually sounds lo-fi, compared to the other two.
Roland Fantom had a very nice presence to it.

Congratulations on the video. I liked how you recorded the cameras and the instrument sequence, Roland-Korg-Yamaha, and then going back Yamaha-Korg-Roland.
