Great review! It looks like an awesome camera. The screen is higher res, it has a removable lens cover (which I love, I’m so clumsy), and there’s a wind guard now too! Plus, with its low-light capabilities and 8K resolution, it’s probably the best action camera of the year IMHO!

Ive been a long time GoPro user, and I have really enjoyed GoPro since the 11. I currently have a 12, and returned the 13 as it wasnt any better than my 12. I will say the Ace Pro 2 has a lot of things to like about it, enough to where I might have made the jump this year - however, I have to have linear with horizon lock on 4k/60. I dont understand how other cameras cannot do this. This is a basic need for action cameras. I guess I will wait for Ace Pro 3 in 2 or 3 years. Until then, GoPro is still king.

I was sold on the Ace Pro 2 until I saw the field of view comparisons. For fast footage superview is a must, especially for motorbike footage where it's the difference between floating and actually being able to see the bike.

Thank you for the great review. It looked clear to me that if you don't compare them side by side, Ace Pro 2 is the clear choice for most. But when you start to compare them, Hero 13 is better in daylight with better colors but struggles badly in low lights. Ace Pro 2 excels in low light clarity, but the colors are generally quite off. I am guessing it is the manufacturers trade-off that to give better low light handling, the colors got to go. Which means post processing and edit is needed if they bother you enough.

So overall, Ace Pro 2 is probably still all-round better choice but will have to deal with the post processing if the colors bother you. But if there is no low light use case, Hero 13 (because there is nothing salvageable through vid editing if it doesnt capture sufficiently under low lights). Or ... hope for future firmware updates that strike a better balance in addressing their respective weaknesses.

I’m very interested in the 8K video. My previous camera would become noticeably blurry after zooming in while shooting vlogs and it irritated me to no end. I’m sure that the Ace Pro 2’s smooth zoom and 8K capabilities will let me take my damn videos and zoom without making me want to throw it into a wall.

I have noticed in other comparison videos that the Ace Pro 2 seems to have focusing issues with close up subjects, which is not a surprise since it features a much larger sensor. Can you confirm ?

I'm still plodding along with the GP 9 I bought after watching your videos and I'm mostly happy with it as my only camera but it does frustrate me at times as I'm sure others find out.

I won't be replacing my GP 9 until it dies but I am very interested in the improvements and competition with other small action cameras. Thanks Jordan!

can you pls make water test of gopro13 and acepro2 in away to see how hydrophobic coat works. will stay water drops on acepro2 when you splash? i had gorpo 12 and he done amazing job without waterdrops on lens. also gopro12 have great day light quality and solid night quality of movies. i receive refunding from gopro because of technical problems and i need to buy new one and i really cant choose between acepro2 and gopro. i dont think about dji action5pro because i think he is lower quality. can you help me pls to choose?
