I will like to see how the G660 holds up years down the road. I have a 038 Stihl that I purchased new in 1981. I have wore out at least a dozen bars and countless chains.the saw still runs great. Other than spark plugs and a few new sprockets I have not done any motor work. Always ran premium gas and only used Stihl oil. I plan on passing this saw down to my sons. I do however think the G660 would be a good purchase for someone who needs a bigger saw but doesnt have the extra funds to purchase a more expensive saw. Good video.

Would like to see the dogs get used and rpms tuned on the 660. Think results may be a bit closer with a little pressure applied. Awesome video and love that tractor grapple combo!👍

The g660 is still a little rich...you have a faster chain speed happening in the 500... if the g660 was turned up to 13, 500 they would probably be right on the same number’s.... that’s a $350 dollar saw and a ?1300 dollar saw? The gas tank on the 500 has lots more fuel left... I think that’s what people are missing... it’s using less fuel to make that amount of power... you should do a total number of cuts per 32oz of fuel type video... no one has actually shown us that either...?

That was great!
Let’s be honest, it’s going to be awhile before the 500i get knocked out of the top spot. They will go down as a legend. To be fair, the G660 is a beast of a saw for $400👍🏻 Thanks for the video Chris!

Wow that was an interesting and surprising result. That fuel injected saw screams but it’s only about a grand more! Thanks for sharing this big saw racing.

That was cool. The Stihl sounds amazing and was noticeably smoother, but the knockoff got my attention for a guy that doesn’t need a thousand dollar saw.

The 500i is consistent for sure! I'm waiting for my local dealer to get them in, and then i'm gonna buy one! I might still buy a farmertec too, i kinda like their 044 clone.

I'm an ECHO guy, but I knew that Stihl was going to beat the snot out of that GS660.

I like your comments at the end about the saws and how cookies waste wood. Beginning was slow, so thankful for fst-frwd. Ended up being a good video.

I keep thinking I will go old school and find a 056 mag II or a MS 660 to go with my 460 magnum but then I see another video on the 500i. When I watch bucking run his 500i and it outruns his husky it brings a smile to my face! Go still. Nice video Chris

I didn't expect that much difference between the two!

The other issue over looked by these visa is my g660 flooding almost immediately after purchase. Fucked up my production time, then after removing the HT lead the internals of the head get pulled out of the lead too....

I get a strong feeling at this point that my 500i will be rolling alot longer on than my 660.

"Most expensive video I've ever made" (Re the new chains) was LOL'ing at that ;D Thanks for posting, gotta admit I'm surprised the 500i was *that* much better, you say it's an unfair comparison but I don't know how unfair it is, sure the 660 has 10cc's (90cc versus 80cc), BUT the fact that the 500i is basically "latest & greatest in chainsaw 2-stroke tech/innovation" it is fair IMO to expect a bit higher HP/displacement, I don't know that 80cc v 90cc is too-far off the mark (heck just the m-tronics of a 661, if comparing to a 660, should make the 661 smash the 660, all things the same, right? I'm only experienced w/ clone 660's..)
Thanks for posting, will say I wish people stuck to weighted bars instead of doing cuts themselves it's really the only way to remove operator-bias (ie you wanting the 500i to win....I've done video-recording for time-testing before myself for mufflers and the like, and have caught myself more than once "biasing" my results, I expect it's a much bigger factor than people want to admit in fact I'd bet the gap between these saws wouldn't have been as-bad if you'd done weighted bars)
What do you expect from a g660 V ms660 comparison? I've only seen a couple youtubes on them but the g660's seem to hang VERY well (which surprised me, considering the farmertec 200t is like 2/3rds the HP of a real 200t..)
Thanks for the awesome vid, love finding quality content (subscribed!!)

The MS500i is also $1000 more. There's no doubt it's the nicer saw, but it should be. It does sound like your 660 needs to be tuned. That said, for $297 shipped to my door, for my uses I'll go with the 660. If I were a lumberjack I'd buy that 500i all day every day.

EDIT: Disregard what I said about the tune. I see in your other video you fixed that!

Nice straight up comparison! You did a great job. The 500 revs higher so as long as the chain speed is maintained it makes sense. Both are great saws!! Thanks for sharing.

If you check the rpm's I think that you would find that the Stihl is tuned to a higher rpm level than the G660.

I have never ran either of those saws but I would have put my money on the 500i for sure. Thanks for sharing Chris
