Stihl MS500i vs MS660

Both units have a 33RSF84 chain. The 660 has some hours on it, but I don't think it could run any better. The MS500i has only 4 tanks in it so may not be broken in yet. I hear this saw gets better after 10 tanks or so.
We traded saws and the 500 won one battle of six. This video clip was they typical race result.
I think the power trade off for the weight reduction using the MS500i is worth it in 24" of wood.. It's a very nice saw to "drive." But it does burn some fuel.
After seeing a disassembly video, it's interesting how small the ports are for an 80cc saw.

Both running 33RSF84DL chains. The 660 won most of the races by about this much, even when we switched saws and tried straight push cuts and bucking teeth levered.
The 500i is an awesome saw to drive.

I should note the 660 is muffler modded and the 500i stock teeny muffler port

Of course 660 would win its larger but the 500 is lighter and easier to handle and it wasn’t by much I take my 500 I over most any saw unless limbing and I use my 261 cm if I really need bigger I use a 881 but my 500i handles anything I need to cut I just dropped a 4 ft on the stump no issues huge oak like nothing.

locally a guy is selling a 288xp for $400/ and a ms660 for $600. both running good. and a new 500i goes for about for $1350. i have many small/ med saws. 30-60cc. now want a big one. im thinking 660.

nope 😂 500i will easily beat that ms660 anyday 😂 it’s just the man have no experience in handling 500i 😅 give both saw to the pro and you will see the difference 😅 btw i’m husky guy and i prefer the look of the saw and i’m cool guy 😎

Are you kidding me? I can't believe Stihl is allowing that video to stay online. with a sharp chain n a saw man behind it that 500i can't be touched. just saying...
