Bobby Kennedy ran for president to end the war in Vietnam, a war that cost the lives of more than 21,000 Americans during the time he could have been president. Discussing the news California Governor Gavin Newsom denied parole for RFK’s assassin, Lawrence O’Donnell says that the harm inflicted by the assassination, “can be measured in more than the loss of Robert Kennedy.”

Robert Kennedy was a man that would have changed the course of history and would have made the world we live in better than it is today. As a young Canadian, I knew that. Never let his murderer go free.

I remember I was 11. I have never gotten over this. I will never stop grieving for what might have been.

Robert Kennedy was an inspiration for me. He was my favorite political figure. I remember grieving his loss,
It was so personal.
Yes the U.S. would have been a better place if he had lived.

My husband, who was in the Air Force, and I had come home on leave from Arizona to vote in the CA primary -- to vote for the first time --you had to be 21 in those days! As we were driving back to Arizona, we listened to the radio about Bobby being shot and then dying the next day. It changed our lives!! My husband went to Vietnam later that year and did come home. It is so important that Sirhan stays in prison and dies there. He robbed this country of its future and needs to continue to pay for it. Governor Newsom did the right thing!

I’ll never forget waking up that morning to the news. Such a harmful impact on society has rarely been seen.

Out of all the political assassinations, including JFK's, Bobby's death affected me the most. Our Nation would have been so much better if he had become president.

It's amazing that America is still dealing with the very same thing! It is astounding! Isn't it time America learnt it's lessons? Too busy playing politics than looking after it's people!

In Pete Hamill's words "The Vietnam War would've ended quickly instead of later and there would be no Watergate".

The RFK assassination is one of those murders that didn’t even need to have taken place at all. Bobby Kennedy certainly did not deserve to die the way he died at Sirhan’s hands.

I turned 13 about 2 weeks after Bobby was murdered. That year was already tough and Bobby's death has haunted me all of these decades. I have wondered how different our lives would be, how different our country and world would be if Sirhan had missed. I already suspected Nixon was a crook long before Watergate and I grew up in Jerry Ford's Congressional district, surrounded by Republicans. I HAVE NEVER voted for a Republican my entire life.

In my opinion, it was the logical decision for Newsom to deny parole, could you imagine the response if he did release SIRHAN, remember he was reduced from death penalty to life on prison already.

Oswald and Sirhan changed the course of history in this country. Sirhan received the appropriate sentence then and that decision needed to stand today.

The country never recovered from this. Good on the Governor for keeping him locked up.

I remember the RFK assination as if it was yesterday I was 15. I watched it on TV. I know people loved him. Sirhan Sirhan destroyed all of our dreams. I am glad that Governor Newsom decided on on this. They have lived this 53 years without a husband a father and one of his child never got to be with her father.
