Quickly use the mask modifier to hide geometry

Blender Docs:
Mask Modifier
The Mask modifier allows vertices of an object to be hidden dynamically based on vertex groups.

Options
Mode
The Mask Modifier can hide parts of a mesh based on two different modes, selectable from this select menu.

Vertex Group
When the Vertex Group option is selected, all vertices belonging to the chosen Vertex Group (with a weight above zero) will be visible, and all other vertices will be hidden.

super easy, barely an inconvenience. Pitch meetings are tight.

Awesome and small tutorial. Different from others that just stuck at sofa or cup modelling. Really useful.

One like for the accent, also it's exactly what I needed in less than a minute, like a coworker you would ask next to you. Great

I'm a simple man. I hear glaswegian, I click like.

haha jokes aside, thanks for the tutorial, it was simple and useful!
My partner is glaswegian-scottish and I gotta support weegie artists whenever I come across any :))

👍👍 - this modifier doesn't seem to get much love, but I certainly see plenty of uses for it.

Wow. I thought I already knew the mask modifier. But I didn't know there was a slider for the threshold value and that you can actually work with weights. I thought its just for rigid selections of vertices.

This popped in my feed and glad it did! That's a pretty neat trick I did not know about. Subbed you cause I love the accent :) Oh, and the handy Blender tips too.

Love that accent <3 Is that scottish? This made me subscribe :D

The Scottish accent is by far the most difficult accent to understand coming from a Texan...good fucking lord.

is it possible to apply a mask in the shape of an object?? for example i want a video to play in blender INSIDE the confines of a piano key... yes, a PIANO KEY... looking at it from above. The video is a 2D plane so I assume it would not have vertices??

My hands are getting clammy when I see that Blender keeps moving everything all over the place every update. There is no option for me to add a keyframe to the Vertex Group Threshold on the current build

The default cube was harmed in the making of this video

Thank you. Heres one for ya... if i have a cube, can i make that cube a mask element for anything that is inside of it? I want it so that when any objects are within the cube they are hidden, but when they exit the cube, I want them to appear? Is anything like that possible?

lol - so the mask modifier is just a different version of the build modifier (application through animation) ?
