I don't think Changli is necessarily more future-proof than Jinshi.

1) Jinhsi is about to get a big boost to her power when Zhezhi releases in 1.2. We have no solid information on future characters who really synergize with Changli, at least not to the same level.

2) Rather than a sub-DPS, Changli is more of a main-DPS who can multirole a bit. The problem is, she is not as good as a main-DPS when compared to Jinhsi, and she is not as good as a sub-DPS when compared to Yinlin. (Seems to need more field time to do her job, has no coordinated attacks, and has a lower damage to field-time ratio.)

Don't get me wrong, I do expect Changli to be a tier 0 character on release, but due to her status as a jack-of-all-trades (and lack of synergistic charactres in the near future) I believe she will start falling off quicker than either Yinlin or Jinhsi. And although she is likely to get a bump when a new fusion characters is released, she is prone to powercreep to more specialized characters.

That said... She does look fun. And it's always possible they will release a character whose kit fully synergises with her in the future. (Like... Maybe they will make Scar a fusion burst damage dealer instead of a Main DPS, and make him specialize in Liberation DMG. Who knows.)

Changli is not sub dps she is a buffer and a main dps. She does zero off field dmg, If you want a sub dps the next should be Zhezhi

Dps units are really important but they also are the first units to be powercreept. Get one, but not both. Waiting for a support and healer is important now.

With the potential best support for Jinhsi coming in 1.2, who'll also be able to hover and fly like Jinhsi, it would be foolish to not also consider that.
Then again, if you're aiming to pull for Scar, you probably want to get Changli as well.

Honestly, I just did a random Single pull and got Jinhsi, Then 1 10 pull later I got her weapon. Then I did another random single pull and got her again. I won 50-50 both times. I wasn’t even trying. So if I have to spend a little bit to get Changli and her weapon. Even if I get her first then have to spend for her weapon. So be it. Considering my luck for Jinhsi it wouldn’t bother me either way. And I got Yinlin, Jiyan and both of their signature weapons already. All winning the 50-50. I haven’t lost yet. Though as they say, all good things come to an end. And my luck, might run out. Or it could run out after her. Hard to say when you’ve been as lucky as me.

Jihnsi is great dps, but I don't like her as a character at all. She's another Ayaka/Ganyu -- boring, plain, not really hot. I gave her a tenpool, but she didn't come, so whatever. There will be many more good dps characters in the future, hotter and at least as strong. She's not even really THAT groundbreaking, I assure you, you won't see her dealing 200k+ damage per burst at C0. More like 20-30k. My well-built Calcharo whom I consider to be very weak at this point can deal 10k skill crits sometimes and he deals damage constantly, while her animation plays out for 30k, he'll deal same or even more in multiple hits.
I'm already at 21/30 stars in ToA, she alone wouldn't have helped me to get more and at this point I'm only losing ~2-3 pulls per month. I'm content with this.

Changli is MUCH more attractive, seems like a cool character personality wise, she's dps AND support (future proof). 1.2 characters look like trash, the guy will be given out for free, the girl is an impersonification of the word "meh", easiest skip imaginable to save primos for 1.3+. Changli is a clear, 100% winner.

Jinshi seemed like a cool character to pull for but I’ve already got 2 Main Dps Claymore users, forgot what the weapons called, Calcharo and Jiyan so I’d rather not have a 3rd of the same weapon type.

Jinhsi will make your farming task easier for a long time. When she eventually loses value, your account will be too strong .

"pick Jinshi for big damage" meanwhile me picking Changli for big damage lol. I have 1 god tier fusion set and literally no any other echo at all (72/284 ratio on-set 43311 cost). I was playing Encore but there are so many things that I personally don't like. So Changli will be strong fresh air for me.

I hope Jinshi/Chanlgi wanters become Jinshi/Changli havers.

I already have Jinhsi, and I want Changli. So I'll have both. Also because I like Bocchi, and I also like Tamamo.

Edit: I get how some people don't really like Jinhsi's character archetype, but it actually is what makes her good. She's majestic and elegant, typical for a leader especially in Chinese settings with wuxia or xuanhuan themes. That personality fits what you'd expect from an ideal female magistrate. Her character design wasn't meant to be very attractive nor have bodacious looks, because that will contrast her personality and character. Jinhsi was meant to be majestic and elegant, which very much fits her role in the game. Is she boring? Not for me, personally I was about to drop WuWa after the first initial impressions, but the scene where Rover first officially met her(scene after battle with Scar in the Grand Library) face to face is what made my jaw drop. I can't believe that one scene was able to capture Jinhsi's entire majesty.

Changli on the other hand is cool and mystifying, which is why her character design was meant that way. She's seen as more attractive but also designed in a way that isn't too much revealing about her. Which fits her as the Magistrate's counselor and as well as mentor, whom not a lot of people in Jinzhou knows about. Her character design was well thought of IMO, considering she is shrouded by flames, but her design intent to be cool actually fits well with her element as opposed to most characters who are connected/related to red/fire elements who usually have fiery/brazen personalities. Chiwa Saito's empress voice also adds a lot of allure to her, which adds to that sense of mystery, which she usually does use on characters who are attractive, cool, and mysterious, like Senjougahara, and sometimes even much brazenly in love, like Tamamo or Wakamo.

In both cases, I tried the english dub, and they don't really do justice for either's character design. Both JP and CN voices IMO was the ones that was worth it. KR to some extent as well.
