3 Causes Of Lights Buzzing-Humming Sound From Light Bulb

In this video, I go over some common causes of lights buzzing. If you have installed LED lights in your home and they are buzzing, then here are the main reasons why that is happening. Most of the time it is a relatively simple fix and you just have to replace on component of the light or the dimmer/switch, but you should definitely try to narrow down the reason why it is happening before you start replacing things!

Just put in canless led dimmable recessed lights... ive used 4 different dimmer switches, ALL cause buzzing. (each lights junction buzzes.) I put in a regular switch and there is no buzz. LED can kinda be harsh and bright so a dimmer is almost necessary. Im gonna try out a few more switches to see if it gets any better. Any recommendations?

I can hear regular light bulbs in general. It's a much more high pitched sound, not as loud, but still pronounced.

Interesting I'm getting a buzzing coming from the light kit in my ceiling fan and it actually just started doing it I swap bulbs out and a couple other fans put some new bulbs in it it still does it it actually feels like it's coming out of the fan unit itself and the fans not running by the way it's just the light is on and I get a buzzing noise driving me nuts

Hey what about really ear piercing sounds coming from the bulb. Ir not Humming or buzzing it's ringing almost like a dog whistle, as my parents had a hard time hearing it.

Both of my LED lights buzz with any dimmer, but not with the regular on/off switch. I want to keep a dimmer. Suggestions?

My issue in my shop is that the light switch dimmer buzzing and we tried 3 different ones.

It’s called bad products. Your cheap lights, dimmers don’t filter out the firing pulses from your devices. They backfired the noise (looks like line notching on a sine wave). Back in my day, 45 years ago we had electronic filters that protected this, now, today YOU must incorporate necessary filters. Hold up an AM radio to your LEDs and you will hear the noise clearly.

I bet that what's causing that buzzing is there are bugs frying inside the fixture.

Installed a new nanoleaf bulb in my room which has a dimmer and it buzzes, tried it in another room which doesn't have a dimmer and it doesn't buzz
