I've watched a lot of videos about mealworms and yours are the best. Most helpful and most clear advice. Thank you

Hi, I have been farming meal worms for over 7 months now and found they love everything. I had some dryer lint that I put in the tote of worms, went back later and it was full of meal worms nesting. They love banana peelings. I put in the tote left them along for awhile went in to check on them and it looked like pigs at a trout ( I guess that is how you spell it) anyway they looked so funny I had to call my husband to check it out. When my houseplants lose leave into the tote it goes. When I eat a apple I wrap the paper towel around it so it gives them a little challenge. If I unwrap it later it is full of meal worms where they ate their way into the paper to the core. I put paper towels and newspaper in the tote too. When I am ready to give my outside birds a treat I get a small bag of meal worms and freeze it sometimes over night to kill them so they won't crawl off. I have 2 kinds of farms, a red worm farm (I've had for 2 years) and a meal worm farm. Nothing is thrown away except I never put meat or dairy in any of my worms. My red worms give me compost tea and worm compost. I shred my paper and they eat it up or use it for bedding. Thanks for the wonderful videos. I never would have know just how the cycles really went. Just noticed changes whenever I check on them. Thanks again, Debbie in KY.

Matt,
I have built two mealworm farms watching your videos. I have lots of Beatles and lots of babies and more coming. My first question is.. My pupa are dead and look like they have a white crust on them. I check my worms every morning and move the bedding around and I find these dead pupa. Also, how do I keep these two farms warm in the winter months. I have them in the garage. We do have a furnace in the garage but hate to heat it just for sorry I have so many questions but I'm doing so good I don't want to go backwards.... Thanks for all your help

You know the mealworms: the mealworm isn't that acrobatic sense they are not young :) ps: your channel is awesome!

The cool thing is, even if your not good at this, as long as you have separate containers, you should be alright until you get good.

Is there an optimal ratio in regards to worms you use to feed your chickens and the ones you keep to replenish your stock?  In my case, I have 2 dozen chickens and started a mealworm colony with 4000 meal worms.  How many meal worms can I remove daily and still have enough to keep making more?  TIA.

Do the grown up beetles fly and bite? Online, I hear some say they do, some say they don't (for both flying and biting). Thanks!

I have a question. How do you breed meal worms? I'm experimenting right now. I have two pupas in separate containers and I will put them together when they turn to beetles. I want to know how to get them to lay eggs.
