It is a issue for every indian family despite the society being family centric, many families are very emotinally distant from thier children and the only meaning for thier exsistance is to maintain thier parents reputation to the point many families abandon people who gay or autistic or with any disabilities (mostly mental kind)
She likely felt isolated emotinally and many theorize that she made an escape in the less fortunate situation even though there are still arguments for that theory

Oh, I listened to a podcast on this a few years back! This is definitely one where the mystery of it hits really hard due to the coinciding event being so big and all consuming and not knowing whether she was mixed up in that or her disappearance was separate. I feel like it would make it harder in a lot of ways to find peace, but I guess since her family pushed it have her added to the list it seems like they have their beliefs and I hope they can find some comfort in having her name added and remembered.
