Save yourself a LOT of standing around and watching, dump your mash into a crock pot and turn it on low overnight. Simmers down nice and gentle.

The failed projects are the ones you have to put all your faith behind. Sowing the beet seeds go harvesting them to processing. All of it takes effort and time and practice. I’m so excited to see your beer sugar when you’ve practiced this a few times. Magical

My friend, you are giving me anxiety with the cutting of all of your fingers 😂

When using a peeler, stab the thing with fork, then peel the impaled thing.

The scary part is that a year later I am watching this video because of how much groceries cost. He called it.

I don't waste money on bottled water. I get a 5 gallon office water dispenser and fill it from the sink. I lived on a German farm in Texas and it had an old horse drawn sugar beet grinder and a wood stove outside for boiling molasses. Nice video. I get wounded in the kitchen also🤣

Thank you... you saved me a tonne of effort, money and garden space. I'll be sticking with my honey, sorhgum canes and maple.

2:45 It might be fun to let it turn black & see what it looks like at the end & if it changes the flavor. Black sugar could be an interesting ingredient or garnish.

The issue with beets is that it needs refining. You haven't extracted the molasses so the sucrose can't crystallize.

Today you suggested the viewers watch your beet sugarvid, so here I am. I wonder if you could use a food processor instead of hand grating. Man, that's a process...one would have to be highly motivated!!

Wow... great video! I enjoyed the ride. Thank you, Dave, for showing us what not to do 😅

Oh my goodness! What an ordeal! Thanks for showing me why I’d never try this, despite sugar beets growing plentifully in my neck of the woods. Hope your cuts all healed. Ouch!

Those peelers are crazy sharp. Thankfully, my bf bought me a kitchenaid stand mixer and the meat grinder, shredder attachment. Makes shredding a breeze now. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the grinder or peeler attachment yet.

Thank you so much for your honest vídeo. It's nice to know which mistakes we are supposed to avoid. Here, in Portugal, there aren't many maples to make cyrup. As for the bees, i'm in a urban zone. Beetroot sugar would definetely be my kind of sugar!

Bees would be an easier way to get sweetener. Less bloodshed involved.

I think I’ll use my ninja to grate with. I need my fingers.
