Dead will always be my favorite. He always had something special about his voice. It can be very rich or very painful. He really dedicated himself to the craft of his music

Dead rules! He worked his ass off and died with his genre that will forever be in our hearts R.I.P!

Dead although I do think a lot of people think it's him singing on the Deathcrush EP so if that's you then listen to Live in Liepzig to hear his vocals

Pelle had unbelievable vocals, not too raspy or guttural but Attila brought something unique to Black Metal with his vocals

maniac was the best but dead is the most iconic

Atilla has the most evident vocal range. He can go from true black metal shrieks, to operatic singing, to wolfish barks, to these menacing mumbles. In terms of technique hes one of the best in the genre.

Attila is probably the most technically talented, but Dead and Maniac just fit the vibe of the band a thousand times better.

Maniac is the most sinister, but Dead was iconic.

I like all 3 but there was something special about Dead. How did he have such a deep and scary voice at such a young age??

I really felt sorry for Dead. So young and eaten up by fucking depression. His soul was lost, he was surrounded by pure darkness. But he was an icon and will never be forgotten. The best singer may have been Attila because of his immense range.

Dead has proper open screams. They’re not growls, they’re not shrieks, they’re open screams that have such a unique croak and grimness to them. Listen to the song carnage. Maniac, Dead, and Attila are all fantastic.

Though Dead is my favourite (Live In Leipzig won me over), Maniac is such a good vocalist, dude. He definitely made Deathcrush HIS release. Bloody brilliant stage presence as well.

Dead was probably my favourite, he just had that sound in his voice RIP

Dead, because Live in Leipzig gives me chills galore. Atilla’s performance on DMDS is sinister as fuck and I love it. Maniac’s performance on Chimera is stellar too! No favorite based on vocals alone, but no doubt Dead is the most iconic. RIP

Dead is the epitome of a black metal vocalist. Yet Attila is one of the most unique. That being said, Dead. The raw aggression and pain in his voice I the true match to the music. Dawn of The Black Hearts is where Dead really shines. Musically. Lol.

*Overall Atilla first place...

Because he have the most advanced vocal technics... With the best vocal range and the most sinister voice... He is the one credited for the vocal parts on the most popular black metal album ever made in history, "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas"... He's also the one that have cumulated the most year of activity and the biggest quantity of credited stuff with the band... He remain the present vocalist and for see him performing live two month ago... The only think i can say is that for his age he remains at the top of the best active 90's black metal vocalist now... And obviously his outstanding vocal and theatrical talents continu to be realy impresive and unique to this day.

*I will put Maniac on second place...

Not necessary for is vocal performances that i think at some points are slightly equal to the one's delivred by "Dead"... But more because the fact he is the second vocalist of the band history and he is the second one with the most vocals contribution credited... Is personal attitude and is live performances are purely chaos and savagery... I think at some point he is the most fückəd up members that the band had ever have at an equal position with "Dead" but clearly for different reasons... Maniac erratical behaviors are the principal reason he got kicked out of the bands by Necrobutcher and Hellhammer... Because he drinking realy too much and acted like a Cahotic trouble maker during and outside live performance... Obviously he is the one credited for the vocal parts on the band second most popular album/ep "Deathcrush"... This masterpiece are the one that helped start and propulsed the band popularity... But also that the album that propulsed the entiere second wave of Norwegian black metal to what they are between 1987 and 1994... And by paving the way for all the next steps for propulsing and popularising the second wave of black metal... Not just at a national level but also at a worldwide one during that same era... Outside of the Deathcrush ep, "Maniac" best performances rest the one's he made on Wolf Lair's Abyss ep and Grand Declaration of War full-length. He's not outperform Atilla vocals so he got second place.

*I put Dead the most legendary of this three vocalist... At the third place.

Obviously Dead are maybe the most legendary member (beside band founder & guitarist Euronymous)... But sadly he is also the one with the less albums credited between Atilla, Maniac and himself... His vocals range sound pretty clear and at some points very very creepy... He got a vocal pitch that are unique and easy to identify from the others... He's also the only frontman that have not to invent or play a role during is lives performances... His short contribution with the band (early 88 to April 91) are legendary but also mark the most important period... For the band evolution and for the entire evolution and developing of the Norwegian second wave of black metal... Specificaly because of is live performances during the 1990 band tours and lives gigs... With the most popular and the most legendary gigs locations at (Jessheim, Sarpsborg, Zeitz & Liepzig)... Dead definitely shaped the dark imageries of MayheM during that specific period and era of time (88-89-90)... By his theatrical live performances and by his use of corpses paint (that he got credited for popularising all over the genre for the second wave)... But also definitely by his dark imageries and obsessions with death and his self mutilations behaviors during MayheM live performances... Like that one time at Jessheim (theirs first gig of 1990 band tour)... Where he cut himself so deep and badly thst he got to be taking to the hospital for important blood lost... Sadly his suicide and all the rumours and storys surrounding that tragical event... Definitely helped, shaped and cimented the band credibility and the overall credebility of the genre... Regarding dark, evil, satanic, and death related imageries... Linked to the entiere genre of Norwegian second wave of black metal. For a black metal vocalist his personal legacy are obviously the most important of all... But due to the small quantity of credited and released stuff... And due to the fact that he's not technicaly outperform the vocal quality and performances of Atilla or Maniac... He got the third place as a vocalist but will remain forever as the most legendary band member.
