Biden and Xi Jinping hold virtual meeting

United States President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have begun their virtual meeting.

This is the third time President Biden has spoken with President Xi, with today's talks coming amid mounting tensions between the two nations.

The White House had said in the leadup to the meeting that President Biden was hoping to discuss ways to responsibly manage the competition between the US and China as well as work together where interests align.

The US and China recently agreed to cooperate on tackling climate change during the COP26 summit in Glasgow.
