Two weeks after the FBI walked into the Motion Lounge to tell Sonny Black that Donnie was an FBI agent, he was called to a meeting where he knew he would be killed. He went anyway. The meeting was in the basement of a house. As he was walking down the stairs, he was pushed and he fell the rest of the way down the stairs. A guy pointed a pistol and shot it at Sonny's head but he missed or grazed him. Sonny looked at him and said "Do it again and make it good this time." Those were his last words.

Lefty also got called to a meeting after the Donnie Brasco revelation. He knew he was going to die in that meeting but he made the decision to go anyway. On his way to the meeting, the FBI was waiting for him outside of his building and they took him into custody, saving his life. He was eventually sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. But 15 years into his sentence, he was dying of cancer and was let out of prison on compassionate release so he could be at home with his family in the few months of life he had left. Instead of using that time to be with his family, Lefty used that time to look for Donnie Brasco to kill him.
