No matter how big or how great the student has become...he or she will always remember the teacher or mentor.

John sending you the guitar and the record shows his respect for you, his teacher. It tells me he was raised right and you taught him well and he has not forgotten. We should all be so respectful of our teachers!

I just got the album today so I need time to digest but I loved Last Train Home right away when it dropped. I’m a fan so it’s pretty certain I’ll love every track. Thanks again Tomo!

I love this album. It’s mature, it’s personal, and it’s actually quite restrained for such a player but that has made it so beautiful. I love it’s 80s roots yet it’s modern.
The album has a very positive feel even though it’s labeled SOB.
Tomo you put this on my radar via insta. Glad you did.
Love it 😍

Even without all the music and fame, John just seems like a swell dude

Beautiful video. The way you talk about this amazing record is remarkable and to be honest the way you talk speaks straight to the heart.
I remember with some good nostalgia the series of video TomoTalks, listening to you gives us always something more than what words express.
And truly the feelings you express for the record and for John are respectfully moving.
Thanks tomo, cheers from Italy!

I love this album thus far, I love the melodies, song structures and that "80`s tone. I am enjoying how he has promoted this album. I love him bringing back the art of the "album "in general. I also have been your channel, teaching style and spirit. Thank you

Love watching Tomo Fujitas videos they are so genuine. You can clearly see his passion for music. And although I don't know much about guitar I love watching all his videos and trying to follow along with them. He is very captivating and explains everything with metaphors so it's easier to understand for me.

I love this record! All of John Mayer's songs seem so simple, and direct, and natural, it is almost as if they existed before he wrote them. I especially like Shouldn't Matter But It Does - I didn't want children, but my ex-wife did, so the idea of being "busy naming baby number three" really hits me. Maybe as John gets older, he is feeling something similar.

I can see the passion you have for this record, almost a cathartic feeling where you get lost in the music and everything is at peace. I was never a huge fan of John Mayer but this album has turned me around completely. I can hear tones of all my favourite 70s/80s bands like Clapton, Dire Straits, Eagles, David Gilmore and many more. Well done John, you have definitely made Tomo proud!

To me, this album is incredible. It takes me to a place that no other album did. It makes me feel something I cannot describe. It's not happiness nor sadness, but it's something in between, like a bit of both. Maybe it's a bit of the nostalgia of a time I never had, but I'm pretty sure I'm in love with this record. I couldn't have said it in a more poetic way tho =)))

Thank you Tomo for keeping the history of vinyl albums alive! What an incredible video! The youth are so robbed of the true experience of learning about are beloved artists! I spent hours upon hours studying the liner notes and photo's when I bought a new album of my favorite artists. What a shame that this is now a loss art form or past time form for much of the youth.

While I think its amazing that John sends you all of these wonderful gifts to show the gratitude he has for you and your friendship, I think it says even more about you. I've been watching your videos and subscribed to Guitar Wisdown for a while, and its clear that you are an amazing human being, Tomo. He is very fortunate to have had a chance to be mentored by you. I personally am so thankful for someone like you who shares so much with guitar and music community.

I think it was in one of your videos I heard you say it is important to practice but it’s also important to spend time listening to music because it increases the creative process. Thank you, Tomo, for encouraging me to do that because setting aside time to just kick back and enjoy music is how I learned of John Meyer’s music. I also wanted to know about this John guy who was your student. I’m so glad I found you when I was looking for guitar lessons! Many times when I am watching one of your Guitar Wisdom lessons I find myself smiling about something you said as if you could actually see. Kind of funny, I know, but I figure if you say something during a lesson that makes me want to smile then I just do it. Even if you don’t know it, smiling is a good thing and it makes me feel better especially if I am struggling to learn something new.

As for John, WOW, it must have been wonderful having him as a student and seeing him progress. I love how his style is never the same and it’s definitely never boring. This album is a real gem. It’s not sappy soft rock, and it’s definitely not pop rock, which I can’t stand to listen to. I like the new Sob rock, there is something very appealing about it that I can;t describe in words. I was born in 57 and grew up listening to all the great guitar legends that a lot of people compare some of John’s guitar playing to. All the great guitarists had legends they were influenced by. The musical vibe John has going on in this album is original even though it seems somehow familiar. I may hear something that reminds me of Mark Knopfler or Eric Clapton, but it’s still different. I don’t know, I think it’s just the style that makes it seem so familiar. I have been listening to Sob Rock almost nonstop. I listen to it first thing in the morning before I even get up (it’s a refreshing way to start my day) and then a few more times before going to bed. It does sort of have an 80’s feel to it when you first listen to it, but then I realize there is something totally different going on that isn’t really 80’s music at all. It’s like how you described it with food, Tomo, but it’s like a completely new dish we’ve never had before that we just want more of because it is so good. Thank goodness that it isn’t food because I would be putting on a lot of extra weight, haha. I’ve been listening to it for several days and I can’t choose a favorite because each song has something different that I like. I do like the simplicity of the guitar and the honesty in the lyrics for I Guess it Just Feels Like. The lyrics remind me of the naivety of youth and all the soul searching one does when life doesn’t turn out the way we thought it would. Like John says, “what’s up with that?” Last Train Home is very addicting, too! All I can really say is that when I listen to the melody and those beautiful guitar conversations you refer to, I just feel like doing a happy dance! It’s been years since I’ve heard any music that has made me feel this good. I am so happy John is back, and I can’t wait to hear what he has going on for his next album! What a great musician. Happy for you as well that you were (and still are) a very big part of his life.
