Greetings from California. Fujian is the ancestral place of Corazon Aquino. I visited Xiamen recently and was so delighted. This city is modern, clean, and efficient, but it is more relaxed than, say, Guangzhou or Shenzhen. Prices are also cheaper than in other cities. The city is like an island that is surrounded by nicely kept public beach parks. It’s government has done a fantastic job making sure its people have places for exercise, fun, and eat. Don’t forget to visit Gulangyu Island, around Xiamen University, and the many pedestrian streets at night.

This is an old railway station with only regular trains. To take the high-speed rail, you need to go to Guangzhou South Station.

I remember when the trains were first being put into service 10+ years ago, US media was saying it was a waste because people are so poor, they can't afford the prices. Seems like they were dead wrong.

Like when you come to HK you can take High Speed train at Guangzhou East and Guangzhou South station and go to Macau only get at Guangzhou south station and the same as can go to HK and Macau also to get at Guangzhou south station.
