Great video! Confirms my purchase of the Cha Delta Loop, now I need a mast!

Fantastic analysis! Elevating a CHA TDL in an urban environment is a MUST due to buildings proximity. But the TDL does DX and NVIS simultaneous on 40M, 60M and 80M! It's also directional. So depending of the orientation - you'll get some gain!

really enjoy these videos and the understandable way you break down these concepts! thank you

If you have a slightly more space in your home, it is easy to make 2 element delta loop. you can adjust, if you are tuning to someone who is strong and turn the antenna reversed to adjust the short stub for a minimum signal level, you will get 5 -6 db over dipole forward gain and 25 db front to back. Equal to 3 element yogi or a 2 element QUAD..
I am very happy with my delta lop on 17 meter band.

I love this series. I can’t wait to get the other components to turn my MPAS 2.0 into the Tactical Delta on the mast.

I have both the MPAS 2.0 and TDL and both work very well but I am particularly impressed by the TDL even during poor band conditions. Thanks for the video comparison.

I did this same thing 3 weeks ago with a 20 foot mast during the 11 May 24 weekend of the aurora and G5 storm. I feel the 20 foot mast on my truck saved the activation. I made alot of components to adapt a broken Spiderbeam Pole and a brand X hitch mount and some printed pole clamps. Imminently cheaper than the hitch and metal pole that Chameleon sells. I've been working on that project for a least the past 6 weeks.

hi there, i run a chm tdl for pota (ground), the only thing i can say is money well spent, some contacts to Europa on ssb 57 both ways, now i guess i need a mast 😀😀😀 73 from Canada

Pretty much in agreement with what I have found over the years with DLs. 30 to 10 meter performance at modest height (I never had any DL over 30 feet max) was great, and always better than a dipole mounted in the same space. The low bands do show the TDL limitations, 80m in particular, with a good antenna you can expect the band noise to be S9, let alone the signals on there. Your video shows signals way under what I would expect on 80m. We sometimes dont appreciated how strong signals are on the low bands, you know when you have a good antenna when you HAVE to switch in some attenuation! But even a compromise antenna is better than no antenna so the TDL giving something your typical tuner can work with is good.

nice reports -- Always good to see the FACTS on my TDL...

Pivot tables and relational databases are the coup de gras for data analysis! You objectively show what we subjectively knew from operating. Thanks!

Great video! I use the TDL for portable setup all the time and have great results. 73

Thank you for another video!! Enjoy this heat!!

Nice video, Bob. Look at L.E. Cebik’s paper on loops. His models demonstrate the effect of height above ground on how loops like this change the take-off angle and other factors. You’d enjoy reading it…

Great video Bob. The bands have been pretty bad up here in TN for the last few weeks. I'm hoping things will be different with the CHA TDL.

Nice video! I was really hoping that 6m would make an appearance, even if just for the SWR graphs. It’s funny how Chameleon markets this as 6-80m, but all of the data I’ve seen so far is just 10-80m.

I’m hoping for some 6m openings / sporadic E during Field Day, with the intent of using the TDL if so.

Bob, one of your best analytical videos. I'm pretty much sold on Chameleon antennas. My QTH is very noisy and I need a quiet antenna. It's my understanding that Delta Loops are inherently quiet. Have you found that to be true.?

One of these days (before retiring) I am going to have to learn how to do this kind of analysis in Excel (or OpenOffice) instead of JMP/JSL!

One really interesting metric you might be able to pull is what the average difference in recieved SNR is for stations that appear in both datasets.

Pivot tables are your friend, especially if your job is statistics or statistic related. In a past life... Nice way to compare antennas. 73
