The hardest computer repairs in my shop are gaming pc's that have a problem I can't reproduce. Whether it's a failing CPU, GPU or power supply, these gaming desktops are complex pieces of tech that have so many reasons to stop working, and it's up to me to figure out what failed. technology is becoming harder to repair and diagnose problems, even in a laptop . But I'm TGTTEL and I'm going to figure it out.

If only the instructor knew what he was doing

The best way to fix a tech problem is to try to show it to someone.

you know somebody's a true professional in their field when they acknowledge problems deciding not to problem in the presence of said professionals as an actual phenomenon

As someone in the tech industry, I can absolutely confirm that the non-reproducible issues are NIGHTMARES 💀

An IT technician going "the fuck?" is somehow one of the most hilarious things ever

If only the greatest technician in the world had been given the room instead of just the computer.

The fact he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it says alot about this man's skills

As a maintenance technician, yes. The biggest annoyance is not being able to reproduce the reported issue.

Two most frustrating things in diagnosis or debugging:
"It's not working, and I don't know why."
"Now it's working, and I don't know why."

My last computer ran totally fine for 6 years (3770K, Intel Extreme mobo, and gold class PSU). Except only with 1 bank of RAM. When rebuilding and modernizing it for my father, I realized the mount for the Coolermaster sealed water cooler was causing the CPU to slightly tilt, and some of the memory pins had a bad contact. I swapped it out for a Noctua vapor cooler, and it’s still choochin, now with 2 banks, after 10 years. Even after being filled with all the bloatware in the world because he installs everything and never turns it off.

I can relate to all this man says. Machines just miraculously fix themselves when we get near them

That event log has me floored. Mine is littered with errors, warnings and criticals that started up way back when I first installed windows and my father who's been I.T. for nearly 30 years is like, "Meh, that's normal" so I had no idea it could even look this clean...
