I was once like most people living paycheck to paycheck. Earning a high salary but, felt like I was never getting ahead. I had 3 cars, nice clothes, and ate out weekly. All that changed when I was diagnosed with cancer twice and face nearly $250K in out of pocket medical bills. I became Frugal to get out of that mess and I kept the frugal living lifestyle going. I'll share How I became frugal, why I became frugal, and give examples of where and where I don't spend money anymore. I'll also provide an easy way for anyone to figure out where they should be spending there money and where to cut. Thanks for watching how becoming Frugal immediately changed my life forever.

I am frugal and retired early and paid off my house in my late 30's. Love spending time in my garden

I became frugal when my partner lost his job the same month I graduated college (with no job lined up). I had never been so broke/scared and vowed to never be in that position again. I'm so thankful that I figured that out at 23 instead of 20 years down the line. Thank you for sharing your story, I wish more people would be able to feel this security.

Food on the table and a roof over my head. Non monetary things are my family and my relationship with my Lord.

My father recently got into a situation where they had to be frugal. They said they struggled with money when they had me, but not like today. When I moved out I had 4 roommates and sacrificed food for rent and bills. When they became frugal they started to understand my living situation.

They invited all my brothers and their wives to live at their house and even started helping with one of my brothers therapy sessions because he couldn’t afford therapy. 2 of my brothers live with my parents. One has a family. They both work, but they can now save. They’re paying debts, their saving, etc. I haven’t moved in, but they finally understand the situations of today.

I don’t know if I explained this correctly.

I’m sooo glad your stuff is showing up on my you tube again. I’m writing this from inside an HBOT machine that I go in with my two daughters ( one at a time) who are medically fragile and both have a chromosome triplication. The emotional depths spiritually, emotionally and financially of bone chilling illness of a child ( or anyone In The house) is soul shredding, and, I too, am just duct taping that soul back together daily and looking for SECURITY too after facing comical levels of medical debt too from my girls ( first OHS was at two months). Keep talking about what led you to where you are because there ars so, so many who can relate and feel so alone in their journey through medical hell and the longing for security anywhere it can be found.
My ultimate, ultimate dream - to die knowing, really truly knowing, that the financial burden ( yes it’s an incredible burden) of their younger sisters is taken care of, and their older siblings can just concentrate on all the other areas of their sisters’ care.
Like I said, I’m so glad your stuff came up again on the Tubes!! Peace, strength and security to you and your family sir!!

I did this exercise when I was struggling with depression in college. I was burnt out pursuing medical school and got to the point where I wondered what was it all for. I think I wanted it because my whole life I was told that was what success looked like. My top priorities ended up being similar to yours; health, family, being outside. I also love to cook and wanted to homeschool my kids. I realized that what I was doing wasn’t aligning with what made me happy. I knew I wanted to stay home with my kids someday, so I graduated college debt free by working three jobs and forgoing study abroad, got a job within months of graduating, bought and paid off a reliable car, saved an emergency fund and invested a year’s salary worth of money. Now we can live in CA (where our family is) off my husbands income alone. I get to raise my kids which brings me immense joy. We don’t eat out, when something breaks we fix it or deal without it, we don’t pay for TV, buy stuff used - we actually bought somebody’s home gym for $300. It’s a beautiful life.

I eat well but I cook at home 99.9 % of the time
If I feel like a good glass of wine I have it at home
I love a couple cups of Nespresso each day, I make them at home
I do enjoy a 5 star vacation once in a while, but my other life choices make it affordable

I’m learning to become frugal. I’m doing a lot better than I have in the past. I grew up poor and was super poor in my early 20s the I started making ok money and developed a spending problem. I did a no buy year and I’m slowly learning to be more frugal. I feel stuck in a dead end job and I’m trying to lower my finances so I can get into a career I love I’m also in college

We bought ourselves a hot tub a couple of years ago. We use it daily in cooler weather. We stopped shopping for fun, buying groceries because we might eat it.

We invest by trying to give 10 percent to charities such as Christian Appalachian Project, Samaritans Purse, and GSI (Good Shepherd India). The starvation going on now around the world is increasing rapidly. So that is what has worked for us. The more you give, the more your money seems to stretch. Frugal living is actually more fun than living on the edge.
