People think that not getting revenge means the person gets away with it. Just because you forgive does not in anyway mean that they get won’t get the consequences of their actions. This will come back at them later in life one way or another. The point of forgiveness is restoration

THIS. Justice is primarily about RESTITUTION and retriBUTION was only given as a concession for when peace was otherwise not achievable by agreement of the two parties. Modern sense of Biblical justice is wildly incorrect if we say it all boils down to retriBUTION and not restiTUTION. This has caused poor views of atonement that came from the feudal ages in the West.

Can you please help me with this question.
I get asked this and I also have a bit of trouble understanding it.. I’m sure you have answered this before, but why were there laws given in the Old Testament like these and changed in the New Testament.
Jesus fulfilled the law from the Old Testament and my understanding is that with him, a new covenant was made. Is that correct. I’ve heard there things as ceremonial law, civil law and moral law. The moral law never changed but the ceremonial and civil laws did.. is that right?

My understanding is that in the Old Testament, the LORD saw that humans were going to do things to eachother so He instilled these laws rather then not do anything about it at all.. as a measure of reducing the outcome of human’s actions against eachother..my understanding is that He wanted humanity to see that moving away from His holy law was not the way to go, and by providing Old Testament laws humans would eventually realise that and eye for an eye, stoning etc was not the way to God..
If that makes sense?
I know im leaning a lot on ‘my understanding’, which is what the LORD says not to do.
Can you please help to get a better understanding .
