The partition between bed & kitchen would be great if the top portion was made of frosted glass or such so the kitchen would receive more natural light

I'd just turn the bed so the feet are facing out. Either there's a walkway so both people can get out easily or both have to crawl down the bottom of the bed. If the partition is added custom, should be easy to make sure the curtain covers the bed area properly.

Having had desks facing each other before... I personally hated having to face someone the entire time I was seated. If this was my space, the desks would be side by side along the windows, or at opposite sides of the room so both of us are facing opposite directions. But that's just my preference.
