I labelled it as "Part 1?" because I'm unsure on a part 2, as it will be gameplay meta-focused which is in a really odd place right now and the jury is still out on a few things, so I'm going to let it sit for a few days before I come back for that episode.

Im going to say, the LOTR release for the 3 movies was the best, most stable and well thought out of all the GW lines. All factions were playable, wide range of model and terrain and ONE rulebook for all factions. I miss 2000 to 2003.

On the topic of the comparison with the LotR game, I have to say, it's not just 30k that is shafted now, GW has been consistantly making the worst decision when it comes to release planning for years now, and that includes even their flagship games like 40k and AoS, and even their golden boys the space marines.

Just look at the desastrous release of the Pirmaris, it took them 2 editions to get the most basic chainsword on foot assault primaris, and it will take them one more edition to get the jetpack one. Gw do NOT know how to organize their release and and how to make the most of each and every kits.

Instead of rolling fully customisable, loaded with wargears and options kits that could be used for multiple units, they keep on releasing barebone kit, mostly monopose, a LOT of monopose almost no options HQ minies (some time they even release multiple kits of the same HQ with just slightly different gear instead of having just one that cover everything (best example being the Necron Overlord and the Primaris "Captain in gravis armor/captain with master-crafted heavy bolt rifle"), or worst they will just wast an insane amount of ressources on kits for their skirmish game that nobody asked for, like the Navy Breacher team for Kill Team, a game that WHOLE point was to be able to use 40k minies, and use it as a way to release more niche kits for it, both things that these breachers aren't.

I'll be honest, every time I take a look at the BOAT LOAD of content they keep dumping on Warcry, Underworld and KillTeam (the non 40k part of it) when so many MAINLINE minies from their "flagship games" are still old enough to drink I just feel sick to my stomach.

Hell, just look at AoS and how slow the release has been for that game. Most armies get their release with 3 dual build kits, a couple of HQ, and then only get a radom new HQ every edition and that's it.

GW do NOT know where to put their new mini effort, and it shows.

Trying to build an army for HH has just turned into what should I just get my mate to print for me as there is no way to actually represent what im running with gw/fw kits

Totally spot on for me locally.

One small thing I'll add is that the decrease in table size for 40K has totally screwed me in finding FLGS where I can play Horus Heresy. Many have just gotten rid of 4x6 tables so that they can squeeze in more 40K players.

I'm probably going to start putting for some effort to get some nice terrain so that I can play with folks at home.

The point about the “influencers” fading back into their normal 40K content with their freebies was reminiscent of the “superfans” early episode viewings fiasco with Amazon’s Rings Of Power, when they were interviewed after the show released only to be found to not even be actually watching it. The Homer Simpson reference was incredibly appropriate and hilarious. And yeah, GW/FW and their Heresy 2.0 release schedule has been disappointing to say the least. Granted, I don’t go on GW’s community website (because I can’t read that much cringey advert writing without rolling my eyes), but I do see on YouTube when a new kit gets released, and it’s hard to get excited when the releases are just usually a set of pauldrons and a set of helmets- helmets which are supposedly MKVI, but look like they’re designed for any Mark except VI. I still prefer resin, but I understand that the majority of people want plastics, and I do appreciate a lower price point for models. I think that they really need to transition all of their Mechanicum, Solar Auxilia, etc. before all of their newly acquired Heresy players just get sick of waiting and interest in those factions dies off. I’m saddened that I lost a lot of options to the Last Chance To Buy purges that were sweeping through just as I was really getting into buying from FW. I’d hate for those models that remain to be discontinued as well-

Hey Mr Circle! I know it’s been a month, but I wanted to say I have been binge watching your Getting Started series with the hopes of doing Ultramarines and building my force as effectively as possible, but I gotta admit, even though you’re right on the money here, it’s still kind of a bummer that it’s come to this. I had, sort of impulse bought the main box set (At almost 100 dollars off btw) even though I had no knowledge of this game whatsoever. I started to watch your videos and I felt inspired for sure as to where to even start after the box set. Even though you’re right, I was still going to play a few games to see for myself. Worst comes to worst, I at least have an entire army of Battle Brothers for OnePageRules! All in all, thanks for inspiring me man! You rock!

They wanted a quick buck, and they made it with AoD.
Now they are half arsing their releases. Look at the latest Heresy Thursday... a re-release of old stuff.

I mean to be honest, its just straight up FOMO thats the issue. Because this isnt just a problem with the horus heresy, its a problem with every system that they still support currently. Their whole business model is to sell as many boxes as they can in as short of a time as possible, and after that time is uo the support for said range goes from seemingly 100 to 0 almost immediately afterwords. The heresy suffers from this especially because instead of this rule applying to individual races or factions, it applies to the system as a whole. Lastly, the another problem I think GW has is with their release schedule/timetable. Apparently, they already know what models they plan to release in the next 3-5 years into the future, and when theyre so concerned with what the new release 5 years from now will look like, they completely forget about the actual current releases.

and this is why 3D printing is becoming the king in mini gaming. good luck GW, your days are numbered.

I think they just needed to have more shit prepared before launching it.

Despoiler/Assault conversion kits at a minimum should have been ready to go for the plastic tactical marines.

Minimum of 2 plastic kits should have been ready to go for at least 6 months out from launch, and the rate should be kept up.

More Codices should have been ready to go within a few months (or at least more/better indices).

They also should have had at least one or two official major narrative game guides ready to go. Not just the narrative game pdfs they've kinda released.

The only content creator that got that free vacation to warhammer world that still makes content for the game is zorpazorp. I could not stand looking at footage of that event.

I Enjoyed your video greatly. GW doesn't care about the Heresy game system. The proof is here, in writing and what is usable on the table.

On the one hand the drip-feed release schedule for all the plastic kits is frustrating as hell - I mean the actually good MK VI heavy weapons kits took AGES to drop from when they were announced - but at the same time I'm actually kinda enjoying kitbashing stuff I can't get yet. Made some pretty nice recon marines.

Am I ridiculous to hope that GW forgets about HH and we as a community revert back to 1.0?

Great Work! Enjoyed listening!

I honestly hope that your able to one day turn GW around just a little and that 30K gets the love it deserves from its creator again!

Now I'm back of to the Taurian Concordat to polish some nukes

The quality control is comically bad with HH 2.0. I build and paint armies just for the artistic outlet, and I STILL get frustrated with how shit the rules have been. Shareholder value won't mean a thing if they lose their customer base due to crap releases.
