John Howell - WATCHMAN device

Retired dentist and internationally ranked water skier John Howell elected to receive the WATCHMAN so he could continue to do the things he loves without fear of bleeding complications. The device is placed at the opening of the left atrial appendage, which is where 90% of Afib-related strokes begin. Reducing the risk of stroke can eliminate the need for blood thinners, allowing people to lead more active lifestyles without fear.

My wife had this done this month and just got out of Miami Valley Hospital after having to return the second time with a hematoma at the site of injection and spending 4 days and could have died due to possible artery damage. I will not return to this hospital again (terrible staff/rude). Caution to anyone having this done!

Well I just had the watchmen done three weeks ago. And three days after I had it done I have very shortness of breath and my heart fluttering off and on all day long every day. This is ridiculous. Now they put me on Two other medicine, one for information around the heart and the Other for shortness of breath and fluttering in the heart. I am so so upset. They told me that when they put that in that’s it, and then I can get off blood thinners after 45 days and take an aspirin for the rest of my life. Now I’m on these other two powerful pills because I can’t breathe. This is bullshit. I wish I never had it done. People watch out!
