Edberg was great in his time. Never forget, that he is the only player, male or female, who won The Grand Slam in the junior competitions. Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open at age 17 in 1983!

My favorite player. The last great serve and volleyer: Stefan Edberg

An era when there were great matches between serve and volleyers and baseliners

Such a great game! Agassi went a little forward thinking it would be a slow shot or he was undecided between going forward on the net for a volley or stay behind and catch it closer to the baseline. At the end he didn't go forward enough and he wasn't behind enough for a groundstroke; ended up with a half-assed half volley. When you see how high Edberg raised his racket over his head before hitting it you can tell how fast that shot would be. And the way Edberg covered the net before that... So awesome! Agassi was already better at the time and won this I think. I think Edberg was the favorite player of Roger Federer. The weird thing about Edberg for me was that he didn't play enough from the baseline. Those few times he was doing it he was great but he felt he had to go forward so he did too often I felt. It was his style and he didn't change it. The racket evolution would allow for monster shots from the baseline so more and more players were playing from there. If he would adapt a bit he could have played longer like Boris Becker did. I felt he retired too soon.

Pretty sure I wore the same outfit Agassi is wearing to my 7th grade formal.

I remember this Washington DC final. Agassi won 7-5 last set.

This is the second one I saw, with the same players today. Same title basically and the point literally ended after 2 shots, including the serve. No dropshots or anything. Just a unforced error.

This one however, fits the title much more

Bad court positioning for Andre in the end 😭

If you ever read Agassis book, I have a feeling he let Edberg have that point for the showmanship

The real reason Fed hired Edberg to be his coach

Why is Agassi dressed like he’s going to work in a corporate office but decided to play tennis last minute

Andre was caught in no man's land. He should have committed to charging the net.

Agassi needs to be at the service line at the end there so that it's an easier volley

I think this was the match that was 100f

Edberg doesn't get enough credit these days as one of the greats... Seems that way anyway. Also, I think it's funny that people think Federer invented the tweener shot. It's been done for decades

A different era. Faster USO courts, older racquet tech and strings, no Luxilon I think. Different tennis balls, too.
