Just wanna point out that you don’t actually need to reach the top of the flagpole with *every* character in 3D Land and 3D World. The game only checks if you’ve gotten the gold flagpole at least once (which means you can also finish a level with several characters at once if you use multiplayer).

I still fully agree with your point! Beating the same levels over and over again can become quite tedious (like the original version of Lost Levels, in which you need to beat the game 8 times to unlock the letter worlds…)

Now it's time I bring up the people who want to 100% the remakes (not ports)!
(0:26) Super Mario Bros Deluxe: It's a remake of SMB1 & SMBTLL. You have to beat SMB twice (this includes the hard mode), beat SMBTLL (except for World 9 & A-D since there not in this remake), defeat every enemy, defeat all Bowsers (using the Fire Flower), get all Red Coins/High Score/Yoshi Egg in Challenge Mode (including filling up the score meter). Yeah all these achievements are NOT worth the 100%.
(2:20) Super Mario Advance 1: The SMB2 remake. You have to beat the full game while collecting all Advance Coins, then beat the game again while finding all Yoshi eggs. While you do have to play the game twice & the Yoshi Eggs are hard to find, it's still worth it.
(2:58) Super Mario Advance 4: Almost same as the original. Beat the game (including the Munchers & Hand Trap levels), get all Warp Whistles, clear all E-Reader levels while collecting all Advance Coins & E-Coins. Worth playing it, more Mario 3 levels = More fun!
(4:18) Super Mario Advance 2: To 100% this SMW remake you have to beat all levels, while also finding secret exits, & Dragon Coins, & activate all 4 Switches. It's the same game, but the Dragon Coins are mandatory, however collecting all of them rewards you with a cool cutscene where the coins turn into Peach Coins. Not the best change, but still worth seeing that cutscene!

In Super Mario 3D Land, if you reach the top of the flagpole with Mario, you don’t have to reach the top of the flagpole with Luigi.

“Should you”
Definitely gave me a good chuckle

You also need to beat the main game 8 times for lost levels to unlock world 9 and beyond. And in odyssey you don't need the costumes marked as special, as they were added later on with updates, which means much less coin grinding

What I like about this is your thorough explanation of what you have to do for 100%, so if someone disagrees as to what they find fun, then they can still choose to disagree and complete or not based on their own preference.

Doing all the moons from Super Mario Odyssey is much more irritating than the 120 shines from Super Mario Sunshine.
Super Mario 64 was perfectly balanced, Galaxy too although it was too easy. Same for Galaxy 2 which also had less “long missions” like Galaxy 1 which had better and bigger “robust” galaxies.

Should you 100% every Mainline Mario game? If you choose to do so, then don't do them consecutively in a marathon like Nathaniel Bandy did

I have a few things to say:

-If you want to play the original trilogy and Mario World, you should do it on the Deluxe/Advance remakes, since they have a more interesting 100%
-The Lost Levels isn't that bad if you put yourself in the "it is very hard" mindset (and play the All-Stars remake, for the love of God)
-For NSMB2, you can play the Coin Rush to grind gold, it's still gonna take a lot, but at least you have more levels to choose from, which are challenges on their own
-My cousin and I actually 100% SM3DW, and the "all characters" chore only took us a weekend. Oh, and by the way, you only have to get the top of the flagpole once
-Simmilarly, you can unlock all secret courses and get all special coins Mario Run in a weekend, but if you also want to get every Remix 10 exclusive item and the 50, 000 toads required for Peach's tent... That is goona take a while, specially, since Remix 10 is a lootbox, but I already got everything, except for Peach's tent... And I'm also missing the Brothership statues because MY DAMN PHONE BROKE UP TWO MONTHS AGO AND I WON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY A NEW ONE UNTIL NEW YEAR!!!

Probably not the time to point it out, but there's an easy 'hack' for 3D World and beating all the levels with the all the characters - especially solo. Simply have 3 other controllers handy, play the level as one of your favorites, then WAIT at the goalpost. Turn on the other 3 controllers and select 3 of the other characters. Then as Player 1, pick up another player. Then on one of the others, pick up the remaining player and stand at the base of the goal post. Then jump into the flag pole and quickly pick up the controller with the other character being held and also jump onto the pole. You will get credit for all 4 characters completing the level! Most levels can be done with 2 playthroughs, and also recommended for 'Champion's road' and using Peach to complete it both times, but spawning in the other characters to be carried at the final flag pole.

Not saying it makes it any more enjoyable than like it was in 3D Land, but still better than doing every level 5 times, especially Champion's Road. Some levels you will have already cleared twice due to a stamp requiring a particular character to get on that attempt, and can make sure to hit the top on at least 1 of those attempts (usually should just do it the first time if possible, a long jump / cat suit makes majority of them easy to hit the top on the initial attempt.

I reckon that fully completing Mario Galaxy is worth it IF you don't play the game as Luigi soon after completing the game as Mario
If you complete the game as Mario and, for example, a year later you play complete the game as Luigi, I think that's a great strategy

This is a 100% long run to 100% for the more modern game I can say that 100% with our 100% questions

Nico skipped over Super Mario Maker 3DS, which featured a story mode, which was really fun and you could get medals on them for doing challenges in the levels

You forgot to mention that, in the original version of Lost Levels, you have to beat to main game 8 FREAKING TIMES!!!!

I would recommend completing both Galaxy games. Luigi Galaxy feels different thanks to the different controls and all the 120 Green Stars in 2 aren't that hard to find (and if you are having trouble finding them, you can use a guide).

I think like Sunshine, there was a level or 2 cut from Odyssey. It explains the coin grinding.

A note for me (this varies depending on how you count 100% and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who views it this way):

I count different versions of games as different 100% runs. So 100% Super Mario Bros. on the NES means you did not 100% the All-Stars version - and I think it's more universally that you definitely wouldn't have Deluxe, because that game has a different 100% checklist entirely.

Because of this...

Nathaniel Bandy couldn't fulfill ny requirement for 100% (beat all OFFICIAL versions of a game, excluding Virtual Console/Switch Online to 100% completion.)

Also, when 100% Mario games, I also count spinoffs (which is why I haven't done it because I find Mario Party to be painfully unenjoyable - war with me later, okay?).

So my requirements are as follows:

• 100% every mainline Donkey Kong game (DK, DK2, DK3, DK Jr., DK Math, etc.)
• 100% every mainline Super Mario Bros. (main series) game - including remakes (virtual console and Switch online do not count as different versions/remakes, since these are emulated, but may be used to accomplish 100%).
• 100% every Mario Party game.
• 100% every Yoshi game.
• 100% every Mario and Sonic game.
• 100% every Mario sports game (Sluggers, Tennis, Golf, etc.)
• 100% Super Mario RPG
• 100% every Paper Mario game
• 100% every Mario & Luigi game
• 100% every Luigi's Mansion game...

And for the hardest one

100% every Mario Kart game (yes, it is SURPRISINGLY difficult. Just ask Nathaniel Bandy.)
