As a student, you want to understand the information in the shortest amount of time.

There’s a difference between cramming to forget and studying to remember. If the information you’re studying concerns the field you want to go into, ideally you want to retain that information.

Cramming for hours at a time and not sleeping doesn’t help your ability to remember information. If cramming isn’t the answer, what is? You're about to find out in this video.

0:00 Why is cramming for exams not recommended

The pomodoro technique also helps with procrastination. Don't think about for how long you have to studie. Go in to your studie session by thinking, ok.. let"s do one round of 25 minutes and then we"ll see how it goes. This worked for me! I use clockify as a google chrome extension, so I can also track for how long I am studying. Good luck!

Speaking from experience, repetition is your friend. Teach what you know, that will move information from short-term or mid-term memory to your long-term memory. Use flash cards frequently, whether you teach others or not. For memorization, flash cards are king. Focus on what you don’t know or understand.

So gonna try this. I took a gap year and its been really hard to go back to study. My attention span has gone down and I often find myself doing other stuff when I'm supposed to be studying. I can't wait to try this. Feels like the light at the end of my tunnel.

I am going to do the Pomodoro technique--- which is studying for 25 minutes taking a break then proceeding to study for 25 minutes again. I hope that this works, information has been overwhelming lately. I will use this to improve my retention and focus, especially now that I'm a university student. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Jim!

For me when I'm doing a hard subject like Math - I tell myself to do 25 minutes and I feel much better. Yes I won't do many questions but I never did when I was doing 1 hour sessions. I love it becomes it helps me feel less overwhelmed.

This actually works. I was able to finish reviewing my 5 books in accounting major subject for my qualifying exam last year and i passed the exam. Lately, I'm being overwhelmed by the information i need to digest but this video suddenly pops out then it made me realize that i should start doing the pomodoro technique again. Thank you

Most times it amazes me greatly the way I move from an average lifestyle to earning over 63k per month, utter shock is the word.

I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve always had a hard time with focusing on reading, and this is something I want to master.

I'm going to try this pomodoro technique for my current classes. Headed for nursing school this fall and I have so much information to remember. I feel this will help a lot.

I somehow always studied with the intent to teach.

I would imagine myself trying to teach my sister about something pretty technical that I studied the day before while she has absolutely no prior knowledge on the field.
I tend to unconsciously create conversations in my head all the time since I was a kid.

What's interesting is that I've seen such quote before:
"If you can't teach a subject to a kid, it means you haven't mastered it."

Thank you for sharing, this is very helpful tips for me as a mom of 2, since I hardly focus on my study. Always forgot after I done reading and I have a lot of notes, here and there 😅

Nice thing about this technique is that it also gives you a break from sitting down; definitely going to put this into practice.
