Zip toggles are the only option on anything heavy outside of ripping open drywall and adding bracing ... ( Which is still the right way for any swivel or extendable tv mount imo. )

I don’t think the anchor fails. I feel the drywall fails

I have used them to hang kitchen cabinets, 60 lbs mirrors and floating vanities, they are really good, when there is not studs to screw into these are the solution!!!

I LOVE those things. Been using the Hilti version for YEARS and only had one call back. A speaker fell off a wall in a bar. I went to investigate. Turns out, someone moved the speaker a few inches to hang some decor, and used those crappy, plastic plugs to re-hang it. Bar owner went from ANGRY to HUMBLE real quick.

You should get that Milwaukee dust catcher vac attachment. Money well spent and works amazing

Something long like that almost certainly extends beyond a second stud, the challenge is to find it. I know it's more work, but the mounting plate covers any trial and error pilot holes. As much as I love powerful drywall anchors, few can match large screws deep into wood studs. On the other hand, if there are wires or plumbing in that wall, the risk and effort may not be worth it.

I’ve used a lot of these over the years and they’re great. Can I request a follow up? “How to patch and retexture the wall when you move the painting you had hanging.” Maybe it’s just that I know where the hole was, but the repair always seems really obvious. Thank you! Love the channel and have learned so much.

Zip toggles are it. Be careful when first starting your screw, best to hand start to make sure it is engaged.

Also excellent for mounting all types of bathroom accessories over FRP board or tile! For grab bars you need atleast one, preferably 2 #12 or #14 stainless screws in a stud per end (you'll have to angle the screws for 2 to catch), but zip toggles and lexel are great for bathrooms... Same for permanent shower curtain bars, especially curved ones with large mounting footprints and sliding or rolling shower doors... Dedicated deadwood is always better, but for changes or upgrades where only single studs are available these will make up the difference for mounting footprints larger than 1½" in size! Just be sure and use #12 or #14 stainless screws in wood if you're only catching with 1 or 2, and be sure to use stainless steel bolts instead of the included zinc coated bolts... Also great for commercial refitting of privacy panels and toilet paper/paper towel/toilet paper holders when refitting an FRP walled bathroom. They are also stronger than tapcons when mounting on hollow CMU block... Great on drywall, but many other applications! 💪👍

Only drawbacks are sometimes the collars /plastics are broken before fixing, and they are expensive for fixings. The metal expanding umbrella seems best over all for me, little less holding power but quicker easier and cheaper

The older togglers had 2 plastic arms, they were a little tricky, but once you got used to it, they were great.

I say that because when i start using the one you used, I was breaking every other one... But they otherwise hold so damn well.

Zip toggles are excellent… providing you don’t obliterate the wall while drilling. They need a surface area to sandwich. Crumbling drywall will eventually fail.

I love zip toggles. Only thing I use in my house (plaster walls).

Have been using these for the last three years and constantly keep them in my supply parts bins. Available at Home Depot here across the border from you.

That's why I like them they are there and the stay there when you remove what ever it is your hanging

I use these often but it depends on the application. They have some of the best straight hold but there are others with more shear strength. All-around though you can use them for most things, including TV mounts (get at least 1 stud though whenever possible).

Those are the best anchors! I used them for my towel racks in my bathrooms.
