Grace (Annette Bening) and Edward (Bill Nighy) have been married 29 years. When their son Jamie (Josh O’Connor) comes home to visit them in the fading seaside town where he grew up. Edward tells him that he plans to leave Grace the next day. HOPE GAP tracks the unravelling of three lives, through stages of shock, disbelief and anger, to a resolution, of sorts. It’s tender, it’s funny and above all, true. There are no easy answers, no simple paths to redemption, but in the end, it is a story of survival. A story of hope.

Coming soon.

This is a great movie and I have watched it five times! No one knows or can judge a marriage especially a long term marriage of 25+ years. You never know what one deals with. People leave for many reasons. Especially, if they grow apart or want something else.

This movie is about my American mom's British boyfriend Johns life.
Truth is absolutely stranger than fiction!! I love Annette Bening! She rocks!!

wow. this basically captures my fear of being in a marriage someday where one is actually unhappy and unsatisfied or where both separate after all those years together.

Bening and Nighy would have played The Queen and The Duke superbly in The Crown 3rd Season.

I think it's about time he close his eyes in the closet and fix his mistake from the past.

"It would be better for me if you were dead"!? Just further perpetuates the anti MeToo movement, in my opinion. Why not make a movie with a independently strong and successful woman who has no problem moving on after a 30 year marriage? Instead, we have a scorned woman relying on her SON to keep her afloat, morally, ethically and spiritually, amidst a divorce from a husband she would rather see dead than alive for her own personal gain. I'll tell you what, no film has better captured that scenario in history. I don't need to see the movie. I watched a few trailers. Read a few reviews. And that's all I need. No thanks. I'll keep watching things that inform me or invoke a relatable experience. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE my mom. Because she is who she is AND DID WHATEVER SHE COULD to make her marriage work. And she did. Up until my father's recent passing.
