Can You STOP GarageBand Apple Loop Copyright Claims?

With Apple having just released a whole load of new Sound library Content, i've been getting this question a LOT:

"Can you use Apple Loops in your songs without worrying about copyright?"

While Apple do provide all of their loops and sounds on a royalty free basis, the reality is that many artists are still receiving copyright claims on their songs that feature Apple Loops.

In this video I go over the cause of this issue and share four techniques that I use to ensure I don't receive copyright notices when using Apple Loops in my songs and Youtube videos.

The first thing I ever created in garage band was a 1 hour loop of chill music. Instantly flagged for copyright claim and was easily disputed. But it was a headache and it made me realize I didn't want to fight this every time in case it was ever not approved. This is nice of you to try to help resolve the issue, but I wish somehow apple could just upload their loops and have them not able to be flagged at all. 😕

Great tips, Patrick. Been trying not to use loops too much, mainly for not wanting my tracks sounding like someone else’s. Hadn’t even thought about copyright seeing as they’re royalty free. But now I have seen this I think I’m going to have to work some magic on that groove I did use a loop for! Great vid!!

Nice one Patrick. Stuff like this is really worth knowing. In short, Just a quick fiddle and you’re ok to go ahead and make sweet music. It’s the small things that can make all the difference . Of course, that’s what she said as well

Thanks for the info. I have released a song to several streaming services using loops from one of the soundpacks that was released several weeks ago. I didn’t change the loops I used as you demonstrated but I did add an instrument as a separate track which provided the melody on top of the loops I used, and also changed keys within the tune. Haven’t been tagged so far, keeping fingers crossed.🤞😅

Curious to know but if someone used a drummer preset and did not make any alterations would they be liable for a copyright strike?

I had a copyright claim today on a GarageBand drummer part I use in a clip demonstrating a plugin. I filed a dispute including a link to the Apple page you linked, hopefully this will result in the claim being removed. My little channel is a long way from getting monetized but that's not the point, it's the principle. The piece the copyright claim is based on uses exactly the same GarageBand or Logic Pro drummer part in the introduction and throughout.

Question- Do all the GarageBand loops and samples contain metadata even when cut up so that copyright is preserved hidden in the audio or am I being cynical.

Hey Patrick. Love your vids on GarageBand. I have a question. If I use a loop and only alter the notes to change the pitch does that count as changing the loop even if that's the only thing you change?
