How to Make Work Funner

A few tips and pranks for people who work and like fun and wish they were having more of it during their workday.

1) Pick the co-worker with the messiest desk.
2) Everyday scotch tape an important item from their desk to under their desk.
3) See how many days you can go for.

Add a second wireless mouse to a computer nearby and randomly move & click when the person is typing.

I heard a story about somebody who did this. First, he a few friends to help out. They of them cooked up a few batches of clear sugar glass. Then, overnight, they removed the windows from his office. They only removed the ones going into the rest of the floor, versus the ones leading outside. Then they took the sugar glass windows and installed them. The next day, the guy pretended to rage and grabbed a baseball bat that he kept in his office and smashed the windows. His friends came running from their cubicles, bent down, and began eating the sugar glass. The funniest part was when one of the horrified coworkers ran to get their boss and the boss(who was in on the prank) acted like it was perfectly normal to eat smashed glass from a window.

At our office, if someone leaves their desk without locking their laptop, we change their background and screensavers to David Hasselhoff's pictures. One of the developers have actually created a little batch file to do this automatically.

When a coworker returns from lunch tell them they had a missed call from a "Mr Lyon" requesting an urgent call back. Give them a post-it note with the phone number for London Zoo.

similar to using a screenshot of the desktop but deleting the icons, you can take a screenshot of the desktop, rotated 180 degrees, and then rotate the entire screen by the same amount so the screen shot looks like it's right side up. You also then hide the icons, so when they move the mouse around the mouse goes in the opposite direction from what they're trying to do.

We incorporate theme days in our office—themes like: Inward Talk Day or Face Your Hips North All Day Long Day or Falsetto Meetings Day. Just keeping it real.

I've done the screenshot trick to a boss back in the day. Take it one step further, create shortcut keys so when he asks for help, you can make it look like programs are opening for you just fine.

Every time your computer plays the log in chime, offer your coworker a mint. Do this for months. Then suddenly stop giving them mints and see if they ask for one when they hear the log in chime.

It's because of people like you, that I obsessively lock my computer and take my phone with me, every time I get up from my desk. ;)

Also, one time someone left their security pass lying around, and when they went to pick it up, they discovered I had replaced it with an elaborate series of clues in which to find it. As I recall, one of them required him to borrow someone else's pass to get into to a room to get it. :p

We used to do funny stuff at my last job all the time! One of my favorites was when we forged really touching and thoughtful cards from a grouchy employee and sent them to his coworkers and for an entire day, everyone would come up to him and thank him for his kind gesture! Hahaha they never knew but he sure did.

And then another time we printed cat photos and taped them to the back or bottom of literally everything on aforementioned grumpy employees things. Mouse, monitor, notebook, stapler, pen jar, stack of papers, post its, etc. He found them randomly for months!

Swap the N and M keys on the keyboard. Subtle enough not to notice, but works a treat!

Awesome stuff. My favorite prank but it takes patience, is to find out a co-workers Ex High School boy/girl friend, bully, teacher, name, somebody from years ago that they don't know anyone else knows...then in a large group meeting have another co-worker interrupt the meeting and tell the person that (name of ex girlfriend) is here from the IRS & they said it was important, to see you in the lobby. Video tape their reaction...

The random word in the meeting is great. Doing that next week.

Give your coworker a glass of water but instead of ice, fill it with shards of glass. It's hilarious they'll die laughing.

Delete "re:" from the subject of all emails before sending.

Reply "unsubscribe" to meetings you can't attend.
