In the german translation, Arthur answers "who goes there?" by boasting: "Ich habe den Sachsen das Angeln beigebracht. Jetzt nennt man sie die Angelsachsen. Ich bin Arthus"
Roughly translates to: I taught pole fishing (Angeln) to the Saxons. Now they call them the Anglo-Saxons ('pole fishing'-Saxons). I am Arthur."

That is frankly, one of the most hiIariously stupid puns i grew up with and one of the legendary lines in that version. came here to find out how that joke went in the original. I am surprised about the lack of bad puns in this scene.
It's funny that you can watch a Monthy Python movie multiple times in several languages and always laugh about new hilariously stupid jokes.
