Hello tea friends! I went to the Wang Fu Teahouse today and will be making a longer video about this place, but for now I wanted to share a video I was going to chop into a short but it felt like it would ruin the relaxing vibe.

Enjoy! Because I know since this isn’t a short nobody will ever see it 😭

Absolutely mesmerizing! I love seeing how her movements and mindset combine to make the experience a mental/physical/communal practice. It’s so much more than having good leaves or the right equipment. I feel like this has to be the most difficult aspect to replicate for/translate to western folks, but crucial to getting the full understanding of the practice.

This is great. I got to watch a Japanese tea ceremony live at a tea festival once, and seeing the stark differences with the same goal, which is serving great tea to my guests, is really cool

Dude, tell me about relaxing. I almost fell into a coma watching her make it - Something about the laid back precision makes me feel quite at home.

As someone who does wu tai chi (badly, I might add), I can see how she uses it in her very deliberate movements (balanced on each side)

I think more than tai chi or stuff like that. Is the fact that one she loves what she do so she is in a mindset of both enjoyment, caring and professionalism and two, she is respecting the tea leaves.

Even the lowest quality ingredient can become something better if you take your time to give it the respect it deserves and you treat it with care. That's what makes cooking, baking and steeping an art.

Sure better quality ingredients can help with making something amazing but if you know your trade, give it the respect it deserves and enjoy it, the end result will reflect that and share your feelings or soul to your guests in every bite or sip.

I really respect how you helped the viewer recontextualize here by mentioning that our preceding videos were probably junky. It honestly helped me reflect on my mindset for a moment, and for that, I am grateful.

you should see about recording one with no voiceover just ambient sounds. like a tea ceremony unintentional ASMR. this video was honestly so relaxing to just watch those relaxed yet concise movement. everything she did seemed to have some purpose or effect that made the experience just so relaxing and i haven't even had any tea yet lmao

EDIT: or just upload the version of this without the voice over. love your explanations and all the information you give but it was just a suggestion.

Just started watching these “longs” having been an avid ‘short’ consumer for months!

Has been fantastic!! Keep up all the good work Jesse!! Let us know if you ever do a worldwide tour!

As someone that was watching janky videos before this I loved this video and was slowly becoming more relaxed as the video went on. Was actually upset that I didn’t get to smell and enjoy a cup for myself by the end. 😢

Tienfu is amazing. I miss their cookies made with tea.

Really dig the smooth movement, reminds me of wine sommeliers opening and decanting wine. They do their job smooth and silent so every bit of the guests focus can be put into experiencing God's gifts. Thank you for sharing!

Very well spoken. The commentary helped me a lot to understand the process. I Love the anticipation.

Her movements kind of remind me of calligraphy for some reason…. Pretty fascinating to watch the whole process

Gongfu cha isn't a ceremony, as its name implies it means to seek mastery over tea. While everyone has their own practices most actions serve a purpose in brewing Tea. Which is why it shouldn't be confused chanoyu (what people actually think of when it comes to a tea ceremony). Tourist area's around china like to advertise it as "ceremonial" simply because it draws in foreigners.

Great to watch. Thanks for showing, this peaked my interest. Have recently started drinking tea at the right/destined temperatures in stead of just boiling water. Great to explore 😊

I studied martial arts for a few decades, and over the last decade moved into tai chi. I can see that movement here.
