We've made it to the final Agent of Deterioration: Dissociation! Dissociation is when information gets separated from cultural heritage objects, or if objects get lost in storage.

Dissociation is a result from poor collections management procedures, so making sure objects are labelled and placed in proper areas is vital to protect cultural heritage objects.

A girlfriend I had, worked for a few semesters at a museum mostly cataloguing things .
she found an old series of cardboard boxes with over 300 stones each with a number on them and few with arrows drawn on them in pencil .
there was also few pages that cross referenced the numbers on some of the stones with P numbers which we guessed were pages in some book that would explain what the stones were (ie 11232-P77 )
And that was it, no other information at all as to who collected the stones, shy they were collected, when they entered the collection . Nothing else was ever found to explain the stones .

Yep...really easy to follow along! You explained it all wonderfully. What you are shooting for is...the opposite of my room right now. So my room is basically a reverse barometer for you. You're welcome. And really, dissociation is what happened to the Ark of the Covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark. And I vote for MORE costumes in videos! And food. Especially food. In the meantime, I applaud your impressive brain. And your teaching ability. And your trench-coat.

How's this for a (sort of) continuation to this series: Videos on outdated conservation techniques that have done more harm than good, and looking at what's currently done to preserve objects and how that can be improved?

I would like to know the proper way to clean the clothes on porcelain dolls as some can't be removed
