The shadow puppetry gives it a creepy vibe. Gotta say I'm impressed.

“I was in pain because of you.

Your fingers

Your words

Your glares and stares

That led to my demise.

Everyone’s demise.

Because of how you see me.

You see things as pure white.

But when I came in.

You only see the devil in disguise.

And so.

You brought the curse…

To yourself.”

I love this modern shadow puppetry. The contrast in colors, the sharp lines, the articulate movement. Alot of love went into this.

The fact that the one story about the kid getting blamed and put in the electric chair is actually a true story makes this even scarier.

I liked the idea of the idea of Candyman is more of a dark remembrance of past injustices and that anyone could become Candyman if the wrong thing happens. Plus, I also liked how they were able to do the Daniel Robitaille origin once more in the form of shadow puppets

I love how this movie is making candyman seem more like a curse than a actually person, especially with the fact that multiple people can become candyman

Sad thing about this trailer is that all five of these cases are sad. The first is Sherman Fields who was just an innocent friendly man that wanted to put smiles on the faces of children by giving them free candy, ultimately he was brutally murdered for something he didn’t even commit. Then there’s James Byrd Jr who was brutally murdered & mutilated by white supremacists after accepting a ride from them. Then there’s George Stinney who was just a young boy framed for something he didn’t even commit as well & then was publicly executed on a case with no evidence pinned against him. Then there’s Daniel Robatille, a man who enjoyed doing what he did & had finally found someone who had fallen in love with & had a child with her but was ultimately murdered by her family and had everything taken away from him. & last but not least, Anthony, who didn’t even want to become Candyman but it was his destiny.

In 1992: We saw what Candyman was capable of.

In 2021: We saw how capable we were of making Candymen

Everyone’s talking about the trailer, but can we please take a minute to appreciate the beautiful shadow puppet artwork here? It’s so eerie yet so oddly beautiful at the same time.

In my eyes is candyman the most tragic horror movie killer of them all

I think that this film implies that there are several candymen that existed over the course of history Candyman is less of an individual more of a curse. All these collective stories can form one Candyman.

The fact they used real cases of racism in this really makes it all even stronger

As a movie theater employee, I always look forward to cleaning the Candyman Theater. This very song and scene plays at the end credits, and I cherish it so much. I don't care for the movie, but god this entire sequence is so well done. The theater sets this very mood perfectly and... ah, I'll cry when it leaves theaters.

Rest In Peace James Byrd Jr. and George Stinney Jr. ... If anyone deserves peace it's these two martyrs of the 20th century who's only crime was having a different skin color... Im very glad they re-opened George Stinney Jr's case in 2014 and found him not guilty posthumously... But that cannot give George the years of his life back that he deserved to live... Amen...

I find the story of the Candyman and the Candyman movies to be some of the best in my opinion of horror movies. He was depicted as a normal dude who wanted to get by in his life, and he was punished(in terms of the first few movies) for loving someone he wasn’t supposed to. Now he walks the world forever, a spirit of vengeance for those who wronged people like him.

You can feel both the horror and tragedy in this. Watching the original and in some of the sequel Farwell to the Flesh, you... well i know I did, but you really feel the weight of the tragedy of Candyman's origin and why he does what he does. When Dr. Purcell tells Helen of Candyman's lynching and when Candyman shows Annie in the sequel firsthand what happened to him and he says "I wasn't always this way...this is who I become". I think this here really captures all the injustice that have happened through the generations and what comes from them. In the Candyman universe and even in our world, who wouldn't wish their loved one to come back from a terrible injustice.

Never thought a trailer for a horror movie would make me feel like crying.

If you watch all the Candy Man movies you’ll see that multiple people over the years mainly white women have “become/been pawns” of Candy Man. He usually uses them as a means of exacting revenge and wreaking havoc thus ensuring that his legend which is a curse stays alive. This new film appears to be a continuation of this.

What I like to believe that everyone has their own stories about Candyman. When was killed for loving a white woman, killed by cops, frame by the whites etc. They way I see it as it doesn't matter what version of Candyman you believe in, so long as you believe in one of the stories, so long as you listen to the myth of the candyman you help the legend live. I think that is what gonna happen in the 2021 sequel. Anthony becomes so obsessive with the lengend that he brings back the myth of candyman by replicate killings from the O.G candyman to make people believe in him not knowing that those believes will allow the REAL camdyman come back to the land of the living to kill once more. What do you think?

The background music is actually a remix of Helen’s Theme from the original Candyman movie. I’m also pretty sure that 1:00-1:28 is supposed to be a reference to the case of George Stinney, who was a black teenager that was unjustly sentenced to die in the electric chair for the murders of two white children.
