I may have mentioned in the livestream of your testing, using salt is something that was very popular back before we used computers. Kosher salt was king and the results were often unexpected. It was even more popular in the 1960's and magazines like Sports Illustrated used the best artwork that showed it off. Anyhow, as for your exhaustive charting, well, it's nothing that hasn't been said. As Paulo so astutely stated, I too, am "floored by all your effort and dedication." This was nothing short of a brilliant examination and a wonderful learning experience for me, and I assume, all your viewers. Great work and thank you for sharing your interest and joy with us! Cheers! :)

The separation where there was more than one pigment was interesting, and a possible route to some exploration. So great to see all the work you have put in on these, and the stunning results. I loved the colours that looked cloudy and fluffy, but the really sharp patterns are lovely too.

It was very interesting to go back and watch this video after watching this week's in-depth testing of salt techniques with the holbein indigo. After that in-depth study of salt, I'm even more curious about the salt reactions of these colors under different conditions. Fascinating.

Thank you so much for this exhaustive study! I am building up a Holbein collection and it's great to see them all swatched like this. Very useful!

Ooh so many beautiful textures *_* Davy's Gray looked like fluffy snow. And every time there was a blurry texture, I ended up seeing shapes that looked like creatures :D I can't unsee the tiny gorilla-like figure on Peach Black :D :D And the mineral violet looked stunning - does this happen to DS Moonglow as well?

I got two differnet types of salt from a saltmine (a pure one from rock and a "clean" one with added anti flaking agents) and you inspired me to test them

Hello Oto! I hope You're safe and well!
I have recently bought a 30 colors holbein set. I see that you have a full range of those wonderful watercolors. Can I please ask you for advice? I want to add a red similar to Daniel Smith Perylene Scarlet to my holbein palette (in set came: Crimson Lake, Rose Madder and Vermilion Hue). I tried searching for swatches online, watched various videos but it's hard to choose based on them and I'd like to avoid a "hit and miss" situations.... So could you please advice me which middle red should I go for? I'm thinking about either Scarlet Lake or Pyrrol Red or maybe there is a better choice? Thank you! Stay healthy!

What a gorgeous job you did! 🎉. Holbein released 24 new granulating colours, can you do the same experiment? 😊
