For premeds, the MCAT is one of the biggest roadblocks standing in the way of a medical school acceptance. Every year, the average score for medical school applicants and matriculants inches steadily upward. If your dream is to become a doctor, it’s more important now than ever to do well on your MCAT in addition to having a stellar GPA, strong letters of recommendation, and solid extracurriculars. Here are 5 tips and strategies that will help you achieve your dream MCAT score.

I am also very excited to announce that after years in the making, the comprehensive Med School Insiders MCAT course is now live. Our course has everything you need to know for the MCAT in one place without needing to jump between resources. We prioritize the information you need to know for a top score and cut out the fluff so you don’t have to.

Unlike other resources, we don’t just stop at content either. We cover the details that separate the top scorers from the rest –  like study strategies, schedule, and even your self-talk and mindset.

If there's anything I've learned from this video it's that there is NO right way to study for the MCAT. I did pretty much everything differently than what this video suggested and got a 99th percentile score! So while tips can help, the best way to study is what you think will work for YOU.

As Simone taking the MCAT next month I really appreciate you taking the time to discuss this topic. Especially with the idea that you have to make GOOD flashcards not lengthy definitions

I first felt skeptical about using memm since Med School Insiders advertised so much. HOWEVER, I gave it a try, and I can tell any penny I spent on memm is worthwhile. Memm is High quality with accurate information you can study to save tremendous time. I honestly felt that the creator of memm deserves any fortune or praise making MCAT easy to study for. I would suggest trying out their 7 day trial for the Biology subject. I am sure you will love it too!

In my country there’s no such thing as MCAT but we do have a similar exam called ENURM (like many other latin american countries) that determines whether you get to be a resident or not. I have one year to study. Wish me luck!

Answer none of the questions. Add an ADDITIONAL question. Don't answer your additional question. Get 101% incorrect questions. Become the 100th percentile.

Active learning with flash cards helped me retain knowledge and apply knowledge when I studied using Memm. It was so helpful

Dr. Jubbal,
What would you recommend if you don’t have a good baseline of general knowledge from your classes (i.e slacking/cramming). How do you catch up or get that knowledge to begin with?

Why did you guys include the “trusted resources”?? I was happy to get to that part and got disappointed when it wasn’t mentioned. What were they?

Remember when they changed the MCAT to be less of a factor with admissions? Good times.

I would like to say that, while I appreciate Med School Insiders video. The MCAT is only a small proportion about how medical schools view you. At the end of the day medical school just wanna know who you are as a person and what type of doctor you will be… it has nothing to do with how academically smart you are, or how well rounded you are. It’s all about you as the person. Sure the MCAT does play an important role if you want to get into a prestigious medical school such as Harvard, Jon Hopkins, etc. But I can tell you at the end of the day nobody cares where are you went to school. A doctor is a doctor. Nobody cares if you have an MDJD, MD, DO, Caribbean, etc. At the end of the day nobody cares. There is a lot of toxicity amongst premeds and I guarantee you it’s the ignorance at the end of the day that doesn’t get you into medical school. I’ve known people who have a 3.1 GPA and a 504 MCAT and STILL GET INTO MD SCHOOLS! Stop letting the MCAT define you as a person.
