Each instrument and voice feels like each facet of the Imperium. The marching pounding drums: The Imperial Guard, Navy and Adeptus Astartes. The pulsing synths: The Adeptus Mechanicus. The triumphant organ keys: The Ecclesiarchy. The orchestral voices: The Inquisition

"Our imperium has stood for ten thousand years, I will be damned if I don't see it stand for ten thousand more! "

This can easily be "THE" 40k theme, it captures it all so well!

The atmosphere and sound design of this game is absolutely phenomenal, a new standard has been set for 40k games.

This is THE Warhammer 40k theme. This is not a discussion or argument.

This song just absolutely *gets* the Imperium of man and the setting of 40k as a whole:

You, a random imperial citizen, live in one of the most evil, totalitarian, violent, repressive governments you could possibly imagine.
And in this universe, it's your best hope of survival.

Tremble before the majesty of the Emperor, for we all walk in his immortal shadow...

There's been some good 40k soundtracks in previous games, but this one... This really captures the awe of an ancient human galactic empire, its decrepitude and a war for its soul.

To me, the electronic pulsing and buzzing is simply the Emperor's life support...it starts about half-way through the song, like him officially being placed on the Golden Throne, whereas in the beginning of the song you just hear what sounds like a stuttering heartbeat. I think of Dorn carrying him up to the steps to his interrment as his body is dying.

There is sadness and then silence before the electronic pulses kick in; the death of the Emperor of Mankind and the birth of the God-Emperor.

Symbolically, to me, it is the end of the golden moments of humanity and Imperial Truth and the start of the deification of the Emperor (against his wishes and dream) and the birth of a grimdark future of a repressed and horrible 10, 000 years under the current Imperium. The song reflects this so well. Bravo to Jesper.

I love how this song still has a 'tribal' feel, even thought it's about the Imperium.
Even in the year 40, 000, we're all still one big tribe.

Can't think of a better soundtrack to be running towards extract whilst being chased by a zombie horde after a successful mission.

the imperium is one of the most horrifyingly epic things in all of fiction. it is a withering colossus, cursed with immortality. it is in a state of perpetual rot and decay, but it wont fall, it cant fall. it is driven by its own immensity. it is a curse upon humanity but also its saviour.

for as long as men and women die with the name of the God-Emperor upon their lips and hearts, the imperium *will* endure.

a fitting theme for an empire that by all means, should have been destroyed a long time ago, but continues to survive by means of hatred, zealotry and blind fury.

whether or not for the betterment of mankind, the imperium is an impressive concept

2:02 The moment that pipe organ plays.... You finally feel the holiness and zealotry that mankind has in the 41st millenium. Jesper Kyd knock it out of town with this one and more

This track encapsulates imperial history

The first part is the the unification wars, the imperium newborn and resplendant.

The second part, with the more "combat music" style, represents the horus heresy, the imperium's darkest hour.

And the third, a combination of both: the imperium of today, broken by, tempered by, existing through one thing only: war. With the background of religous music behind it, like the imperium's glory days.

The OST is just SO PERFECTLY 40k, absolutely nailed the opressive gothic industrial atmosphere
