Social Security is in trouble; in a recent report by the CBO, the social security trust fund will be insolvent by the year 2032-2033. This means a social security benefits cut of up to 25% for many people. However, a recent bipartisan proposal suggests cuts in social security could be seen of up to 50%. This is because they're proposing to raise the full retirement age up to 70, from 67, which would mean a benefit cut for social security retirement benefits of 50% if you take them early at the age of 62.
